Why Families in Montana Choose The Puppy Lodge

We’re a family of nine, five girls, two boys, and two parents who’ve been doing this for over 13 years. Our kids don’t just live around the puppies. They’re in the whelping room, in the play yard, on the floor with puppies every day they’re born. By the time a puppy leaves our farm, it’s been held, played with, and loved on. These puppies are truly family raised, and we love what we do.

Our farm sits in the rolling hills of Central Ohio, and our kennel has been remodeled multiple times over the years to give our dogs the best environment possible. Heated tile floors in the winter. Geothermal cooling in the summer. Five acres of open space where our adult dogs run and play every day. We don’t cut corners on the stuff that matters.

We’re certified through the Purdue University Canine Care Program, and one of the few breeders in the country who can say that. Purdue’s veterinary team inspects our facilities, our breeding practices, and the way we raise our puppies. We’ve always exceeded their requirements. On top of that, our vet at Danville Veterinary Clinic comes to our kennel every week to check on our dogs.

Every puppy born here goes through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) between days 3 and 16. It’s a proven program that strengthens their cardiovascular system, builds stress tolerance, and improves immune response before they ever leave our care. All of our parent dogs are health and genetic tested, not just for common breed conditions but for coat traits, eye color, furnishings, and more. We know exactly what we’re producing and we stand behind every puppy.

What Comes With Every Puppy

When your puppy leaves The Puppy Lodge, they come with everything you need to start off right:

  • 3-year health guarantee
  • Current vaccinations and full deworming
  • Complete veterinary exam
  • Microchipped
  • Purina Pro Plan starter bag of the same food they’ve been eating here
  • A blanket with mom’s scent
  • Registration paperwork
  • Lifetime access to our family for questions, advice, and support

We don’t disappear after the sale. If you have a question regarding your puppy’s first night home, you can reach us whenever you want. We commonly communicate with new puppy families after they bring their puppy home to help them care for their new pet.

How Puppy Delivery Works To Montana

Montana families have three options. A flight nanny can bring your puppy in-cabin on a direct flight into an airport near you, where you'll meet the handler right at the airport. Your puppy never goes in cargo. Ground transport is also available through climate-controlled pet delivery vans that bring your puppy straight to your door anywhere in the state. And if you'd like to visit in person, the drive from Montana to our kennel in Ohio is roughly 24 to 32 hours depending on where you're located, though many families fly into Columbus, which is about 1.5 hours from our farm.

Ground Transport

We utilize a puppy delivery service to deliver your puppy anywhere in the country by delivery van. These vans are climate-controlled and the puppies are well taken care of on their journey to your home in Montana. This is our most popular option for delivering puppies and gives your puppy a safe and calm ride right to your home.

In Person Pickup

If you’re willing to make the trip, you can come right to our home and kennel and pick the puppy up yourself. This option lets you meet the puppy, their puppy parents, and see our kennel in person. We openly allow people to visit our kennel by appointment and let them see our breeding operation and see for themselves why we are a step above your average breeder.

Flight Nanny Delivery

You can have your puppy flown into a nearby commercial airport by a professional puppy flight nanny. Your puppy will sit right next to the flight nanny the entire flight and will never be stored with cargo or luggage. Just as with ground transport, your puppy will be actively cared for and looked after until you can pick them up at the airport. This option is more expensive but gets your puppy to you in the quickest time possible if you are across the country. See a full list of Montana airports we can fly a puppy into below.

FAQs Of Montana Families

Q:Which breeds do well with Montana's cold winters?

A:Montana winters are no joke, but several of our breeds handle the cold beautifully. Golden Retrievers and Pomskies both have thick double coats built for snow and low temperatures, and they'll keep up with you on trails all summer long. Miniature Poodles do well too since their dense, curly coat provides solid insulation, and they're surprisingly athletic for their size. Fluffy French Bulldogs are primarily indoor companions, so Montana's winters aren't a concern as long as you keep outdoor time brief on the coldest days. They're a great fit for families who want a lower-energy buddy at home after a day outside. Mini Dachshunds can thrive here with a good coat for walks, though they'll want to be inside when the real cold sets in.

Q:Can I visit your facility before buying?

A:Absolutely, and we love when families make the trip. Visits are by appointment so we can give you our full attention. You'll meet the parent dogs, walk through the kennel, and spend real time with the puppies. It's one thing to see photos online, but holding a puppy and watching how it interacts with your kids is a completely different experience. If traveling isn't in the cards, we also offer virtual tours so you can see exactly how our puppies are raised before making a decision.

Q:What should I prepare before my puppy arrives in Montana?

A:Montana's winters can catch new puppy owners off guard, so plan ahead. Stock up on puppy-safe paw balm and have a warm, draft-free space set up indoors before your puppy arrives. Puppies lose body heat fast, especially small breeds, so heated bedding or a warm crate pad is worth the investment during those first few weeks. Schedule a vet appointment within the first few days of arrival, and if your puppy is coming home during winter, keep outdoor potty breaks short until they've had time to acclimate.

Q:What makes The Puppy Lodge different from other breeders?

A:We've been raising puppies for over 13 years, and our family of eight is hands-on with every single litter from day one. Every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation between days 3 and 16, which builds confidence and stress resilience you'll notice from the first week home. Our parent dogs are all health and genetic tested, and Danville Veterinary Clinic visits our kennel weekly from birth through adoption. We're Purdue University Canine Care Certified with a 3-year health guarantee that includes hip and elbow coverage. We hold ourselves to the highest standards so you can get the best puppy for your family.
