If you are searching for Fluffy Frenchie puppies for sale, you have probably already noticed that this is not a breed you find just anywhere. The Puppy Lodge raises Fluffy French Bulldog puppies on our family farm in Central Ohio, and every puppy comes from genetically tested and health screened parents. Every litter is raised using Early Neurological Stimulation from day three. We are a Purdue University certified breeder with over 13 years of experience and a family of nine that is with the puppies every single day from birth.
Our Fluffy Frenchies are bred for health, temperament, and correct structure. We raise them in a climate-controlled kennel with daily access to outdoor play areas on our five-acre property. By the time a puppy is ready to go home, it has been socialized through real family life, examined by our veterinarian on a weekly basis, and is fully vet-ready for the transition to your household.
We offer Fluffy Frenchie puppies in a range of colors and carry both standard and rare color genetics in our program. Every puppy is backed by our 3-year health guarantee. We deliver puppies nationwide and welcome visitors by appointment at our farm.

Fluffy French Bulldogs are rare, and finding a breeder who actually understands the genetics behind them is even harder. The fluffy coat is driven by a recessive gene, and a lot of breeders producing these dogs do not do the testing to confirm what they are working with. You end up paying a premium price and hoping for the best. We do not operate that way. We test every one of our parent dogs for coat genetics, eye color, and furnishings before they ever enter our breeding program. The breed education section below explains exactly how the coat genetics work, but the short version is that when you get a Fluffy Frenchie from us, you know exactly what you are getting because we know exactly what we are producing with every pairing.
French Bulldogs are a brachycephalic breed, which is why we have a fully climate-controlled kennel. We use heated tile floors in the colder months and geothermal cooling through the summer, so our dogs are comfortable year-round regardless of what the Ohio weather is doing. Our adults and puppies also spend time outdoors on our five-acre farm, where they get fresh air and exercise in a safe, supervised environment. The combination of our indoor comfort and outdoor activity gives our puppies the best of both worlds during their most important developmental weeks.
We are a family of nine. Five girls, two boys, and two parents who have been raising puppies together for over 13 years. We also network with other local breeders that follow our very strict breeding standards. This is not a side project for us; we do this full-time. Our kids are with the puppies every single day from the time they are born, holding them, playing with them, and socializing them through normal family life. That kind of daily human contact from the very beginning makes a real difference in a breed like the Fluffy Frenchie, because these dogs bond closely with people and thrive on attention. A puppy that has been held by children, heard household noise, and experienced everyday life before it ever leaves our farm is going to transition into your home with far less stress than one that has not.
Every puppy also goes through our Early Neurological Stimulation protocol between days 3 and 16. ENS is a research-backed method originally developed by the U.S. military’s Bio Sensor program. It involves a series of brief, gentle exercises performed once a day during a puppy’s critical neurological development window. The documented results include stronger cardiovascular performance, greater tolerance to stress, and improved immune response. Our puppies get this on top of the daily handling and socialization they already receive from our family.
Our veterinarian at Danville Veterinary Clinic visits our kennel on a weekly basis, not just when something is wrong. Every puppy is examined, and we track development closely from birth through the day they leave. We back every puppy with a 3-year health guarantee, which is well beyond what most breeders offer.
We are certified through the Purdue University Canine Care Program, one of the most respected independent breeder certification programs in the country. That certification means our facility, our practices, and our standards are evaluated and held to a level that very few breeders meet. Every puppy leaves our farm up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, and with a blanket carrying mom’s scent to help ease the transition. We welcome visitors by appointment and deliver puppies nationwide.

The Fluffy French Bulldog is a purebred French Bulldog with a longer, softer coat. They are also called Fluffy Frenchies or Long Haired French Bulldogs, but they are not a mixed breed, and they are not a separate breed. They have the same stocky build, the same bat ears, and the same loyal personality that has made the French Bulldog one of the most popular breeds in the country. The only difference is their coat.
Standard Frenchies have short, smooth fur. Fluffy Frenchies carry a naturally occurring recessive gene called the Long Hair gene, or LH gene, that produces a softer, medium length coat with extra fullness around the ears, chest, and neck. For a puppy to have the fluffy coat, both parents must carry the LH gene. If only one parent carries it, the puppy will look like a standard short haired Frenchie but will be a carrier of the gene and could pass it on to future generations. This is why genetic testing matters. Without it, a breeder has no way of knowing whether a pairing will produce fluffy puppies or not.
The French Bulldog breed traces back to the mid 1800s in England, where small Toy Bulldogs were popular among lace workers in Nottingham. When the lace trade moved to northern France during the Industrial Revolution, the workers brought their dogs with them. The breed quickly became a favorite in Parisian society, where it was crossed with local ratting dogs and developed the upright bat ears that set it apart from the English Bulldog. By the late 1800s, the French Bulldog had made its way to the United States, where it was recognized by the AKC in the Non-Sporting Group.
The fluffy coat variation is not a recent designer trend. The Long Hair gene has existed within French Bulldog lines for as long as the breed has been around. It was considered a fault in the show ring, so breeders historically bred away from it. In recent years, demand for the Fluffy Frenchie has grown significantly as families discovered the look and realized these dogs carry the exact same health, temperament, and structure as their short coated counterparts. Today, French Bulldogs are consistently one of the top ranked breeds in America, and the Fluffy variation has only added to that popularity.
Fluffy French Bulldogs are compact, muscular dogs with a low center of gravity and a sturdy frame. They typically stand 11 to 13 inches tall at the shoulder and usually weigh around 16 to 28 pounds. The males are usually on the heavier end of that range. Their build is square and well proportioned with a broad chest, strong legs, and the signature flat face and large, rounded bat ears. Despite their small size, they feel solid when you pick them up. They are not fragile dogs.
Fluffy French Bulldogs are playful and affectionate without being hyper. They are social and easygoing with children, other pets, and strangers. They form strong bonds with their owners and genuinely want to be near their people at all times. If you are sitting on the couch, your Frenchie will be on the couch. If you move to the kitchen, your Frenchie is coming with you. They are not clingy in a stressful way. They just prefer your company to being alone.
They are alert enough to let you know when someone is at the door, but they are not excessive barkers. They do well in apartments, condos, townhouses, and larger homes. They are adaptable dogs that adjust to your routine rather than demanding you adjust to theirs. Their calm, even temperament and love of people make them one of the best companion breeds for families, couples, singles, and seniors.
Fluffy Frenchies have low to moderate energy compared to most breeds, and do not need long runs, hours at the dog park, or intense physical activity. Around 30 to 45 minutes of exercise a day is enough, and that can be split between a couple of short walks and some indoor play. They enjoy a good game of fetch or tug of war, and puzzle toys are a great way to keep them mentally sharp without overexerting them physically.
Fluffy Frenchies can be sensitive to heat and heavy exercise because of their shorter snout. On hot days, keep walks short and stick to cooler times of the day, like early morning or evening. Watch for heavy panting, excessive drooling, or signs of overheating, and get them inside if you see it. They do much better in moderate and cool temperatures, and most Frenchie owners find that their dog self-regulates well and will slow down or stop when they have had enough.
Fluffy French Bulldogs come in a wide range of colors and patterns, which is a big part of what makes them so popular. Common colors include cream, fawn, brindle, pied, and blue. Rarer colors include lilac, chocolate, merle, and isabella. Some Fluffy Frenchies also carry the tan point gene, which produces markings above the eyes, on the cheeks, chest, and legs. Their eye color can range from dark brown to blue or green, depending on genetics. The texture of the fluffy coat varies slightly from dog to dog. Some have a smooth, flowing coat while others lean slightly wavy with more natural fullness. It is noticeably different from the standard short Frenchie coat but it is not as long or high maintenance as breeds like the Shih Tzu or Cavalier. We carry a variety of color genetics in our program and test every parent dog so we know what each pairing is capable of producing.
The fluffy coat looks like it would be high maintenance, but it is actually very manageable. Brushing two to three times a week is enough to keep the coat free of tangles and looking its best. A good slicker brush or a quality pin brush works well for this coat type. During seasonal shedding periods, you may want to brush a little more often to stay ahead of loose hair. Baths can be given as needed, typically one every couple of weeks, using a gentle dog shampoo is enough.
Beyond the coat, standard Frenchie grooming applies. Keeping the facial wrinkles clean and dry to prevent irritation is also very important. Trim nails regularly, clean ears weekly, and brush teeth or provide dental chews to support oral health. An occasional trip to your professional groomer is fine, but not required for most Fluffy Frenchie owners.
Fluffy French Bulldogs share the same health profile as standard French Bulldogs. The most common concern with this breed is its brachycephalic structure. The shortened snout can make breathing more labored during intense exercise or in hot weather. So keeping them cool and avoiding overexertion is very important. Responsible breeding that selects for open nares and good airway structure helps reduce the severity of breathing issues.
Other conditions to be aware of include intervertebral disc disease, hip dysplasia, allergies, and certain eye conditions. This is exactly why genetic testing and health screening of parent dogs matters so much. A well tested breeding program significantly reduces the chances of these issues showing up in puppies. With proper care, a quality diet, regular vet visits, and an appropriate activity level, Fluffy French Bulldogs typically live 10 to 12 years.
