Differences between Standard and Miniature Dachshunds in Colorado?

The classification differences based on AKC rules is based solely on the adult weight after reaching one year of age.  Miniature Dachshunds should weigh less than 11 Pounds.   Standard Dachshund weight should range between 16 and 32 pounds at one year old.

There are three distinct Varieties of coats in Miniature Dachshund puppies, including Smooth, Longhair, and Wire Hair.   We proudly raise the Short-hair and the Long-Har versions.

Many things affect the price of Miniature Dachshunds!  The one big factor is if the dog is from registered bloodlines with extremely good genetics from a reputable breeder.  The coloring, sex of the puppy, and whether the parents were genetic and health tested also can affect the price. Based on those factors dachshunds can generally cost anywhere from $500 to $3500.

For the most part dachshunds are moderate shedders and leave hairs on carpets and clothes.   Short-haired dachshunds minimal brushing to control shedding.    But long-haired dachshunds require daily brushing to minimize shedding and mat prevention.

Miniature Dachshunds are very intelligent and can sometimes be a little stubborn.   But they are also very loving and eager to please which typically helps a lot to make the training easier. 

Most grown Miniature Dachshunds should get between 45 minutes to an hour of exercise each day. This can be broken up into two shorter training sessions throughout the day.
