Getting Your Puppy Home to Michigan

Good news for Michigan families: we're closer than you might think. Our farm is in Ohio, only about three and a half hours south of Detroit, so bringing your puppy home is easy. You have three ways to do it.

Farm pickup — because Michigan is so close, a lot of families just drive down. Come meet the parents, see the kennel, and take your puppy home yourself. We set up a time by appointment so we can give you our full attention.

Ground delivery — if you'd rather not make the drive, a professional pet transport company brings your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in Michigan.

Flight nanny — for a faster option, a nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) or Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids. Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.

Raising a Frenchie Through a Michigan Winter

Let's start with the easy part. Michigan summers are mild, so the heat that troubles Frenchies in the South is rarely an issue here. A little shade and water on the warmest days is all your dog needs.

Winter is the season that takes some planning, and Michigan winters mean it. Between the cold and the lake-effect snow, especially on the west side of the state around Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, your Frenchie will need a hand staying comfortable. They have short coats and not much body fat, so they feel the cold quickly. A few simple things keep them happy:

Put a warm sweater or coat on your Frenchie before winter walks, and keep those walks short when it's bitterly cold or snowy.
Wipe their paws when you come inside. The salt used on Michigan roads and sidewalks can sting and crack their pads, and it isn't good for them to lick off.
Run a humidifier if your furnace dries out the air. Dry winter air can leave a Frenchie's skin flaky, and a little moisture helps.

Once the snow melts, Michigan is a joy for this breed. A spring or fall walk along the Detroit Riverfront, or the Kent Trails around Grand Rapids, is exactly the kind of easy outing a Frenchie loves.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:How do Frenchies handle Michigan winters?

A:They do well with a little care. Put a sweater on them for cold walks, keep those walks short in deep cold and snow, and wipe the road salt off their paws afterward. Frenchies would rather be inside with the family anyway, which fits a Michigan winter just fine.

Q:Can I visit the farm and meet the puppies?

A:Yes, and since we're only a few hours from most of Michigan, it's a manageable trip. We're a working kennel, so we schedule visits by appointment to make sure we can give you our time and show you the kennel, the adult dogs, and all of our puppies.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.

Q:Do you have a waitlist?

A:We don't keep a waitlist. It's first come, first served, and every available puppy is posted on our website. When you find the one you want, a $200 deposit holds them.
