Miniature Dachshund Puppies for Sale in New York, Raised by The Puppy Lodge

Families looking for Miniature Dachshund puppies for sale in New York work with us the same way families in every other state do, starting with the available puppies on our site and finishing with a puppy at their door. The Puppy Lodge is a family run program based on a five acre farm in Fresno, Ohio, and we have been raising dogs for more than thirteen years. Our mini doxies are bold, funny, deeply attached to their people, and they usually mature somewhere between eight and eleven pounds.

New York sits about five to ten hours east of us depending on where you live, so a puppy heading to Buffalo has a much shorter trip than one heading to Montauk. Either way, we handle the whole route.

Available Mini Dachshund Puppies

Everything listed below is available right now. Each puppy has a price on its page, a photo, and a reserve button, so you can claim one online with a $200 deposit without waiting on a phone call. Because we do not run a waitlist, the way to get a specific coat or color is to claim a pick from an upcoming litter before it is born.

Every puppy leaves us vet checked by Danville Veterinary Clinic, microchipped, current on shots and dewormings, and covered by a written three year health guarantee. Terms and exclusions are on the health guarantee page. Financing is available through Credova, and we can set up a FaceTime call if you want to see a puppy move around before you commit. We deliver to New York, so you do not have to plan a road trip to Ohio unless you want one.

Puppy Delivery to New York

There are three ways to get your puppy home, and we sort out which one makes sense on a phone call after the puppy is reserved.

Home delivery is what most New York families pick. Two drivers run each route so nobody is ever on duty alone, the van is climate controlled, the puppy has a carrier of its own, and a vet checks it before the trip. You get updates along the way. The flat fee for New York is $350. Vans leave on Tuesday mornings, and since New York is an East Coast run, most puppies arrive the next day. That is our recommendation for anyone in the Hudson Valley, the five boroughs, Long Island, or the Capital Region, since it skips airport parking and traffic entirely.

Flight nanny service is the fastest option. This is not shipping. A person flies in the cabin with your puppy and hands it over at baggage claim, usually the same day. Your puppy is never in cargo. We fly into the airports New York families already use, including JFK, LaGuardia, Buffalo Niagara International, Greater Rochester International, Syracuse Hancock International, and Albany International. Cost is quoted per flight and runs higher than ground, and it depends on the puppy being at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds with the carrier, and cleared by a health certificate. Mini dachshunds are comfortably inside that weight limit, so this option stays open for the breed all the way to adulthood.

Farm pickup is worth considering if you live in western New York. Buffalo, Jamestown, and Olean are roughly five hours from us, which is a long day trip but a doable one. You would meet the puppy's mother, walk through the kennel, go over the vaccination records and microchip registration in person, and leave with a bag of the food the puppy is already eating plus a blanket that smells like where it came from. Pickup is by appointment.

The breed changes the math a little. A long backed dog should not be doing a lot of climbing in and out of a vehicle at eight weeks old, so if you drive out, plan on a carrier and a few stops rather than letting the puppy ride loose in the back seat.

Miniature Dachshund Puppy Breeder Serving New York Families

We are a Miniature Dachshund breeder serving New York from central Ohio, which puts us farther away than a local listing but closer than the drive time suggests once delivery is arranged. What you get for that distance is a program you can ask hard questions about. Every parent dog is owned by The Puppy Lodge and has been health tested and genetically tested before ever producing a litter. Litters are raised across a small closed network of local kennels near the farm, run by breeders who work only with our dogs and follow the same standards we do. Our vet visits the kennels weekly and checks the adults and every new litter.

With this breed, spinal structure is the thing we pay closest attention to. Parent dogs are selected for sound backs, which lowers the odds of disc problems showing up later, though no breeder can rule the risk out entirely. ENS is a short daily handling routine that builds stress tolerance. Every puppy gets it from day three to day sixteen, then daily handling from our children and the start of potty and crate training before it goes home at eight weeks. We raise smooth and longhaired coats in colors like red, black and tan, chocolate and tan, blue and tan, sable, and dapple. If you want more background on the breed before you decide, our Miniature Dachshund owner's guide gets into temperament, exercise, and the quirks nobody warns you about.

Miniature Dachshund FAQs Of New York Families

Q: Is a Miniature Dachshund a good fit for a New York City apartment?

A: Yes, and the size helps with building weight limits since these dogs mature around eight to eleven pounds. They need thirty to sixty minutes of activity a day, which two walks and some indoor play will cover, and they do not need a yard. The part to plan for is the barking. This breed was bred to be vocal underground, so a doxie will announce the elevator, the delivery guy, and the neighbor's dog. Daily exercise, a chew, a steady routine, and never rewarding the barking with attention keep it manageable in a shared wall building.

Q: My apartment is a fourth floor walk up. Is that a problem for a dachshund?

A: Stairs are one of the few daily routines worth changing for this breed. Repeated climbing puts pressure on a long spine, so carry the puppy up and down rather than letting it take the steps on its own, especially in the first year. The same goes for jumping on and off a bed or couch, where an inexpensive ramp solves it. Use a harness instead of a collar on walks, keep the dog lean, and you have covered most of what an owner controls.

Q: How do smooth and longhaired coats handle winters upstate?

A: A longhaired doxie has more insulation, but neither coat is built for standing around in Syracuse or Buffalo in February. A sweater or coat on walks makes a difference, and short frequent outings work better than one long one when it is below freezing. Rinse or wipe the paws after sidewalk salt, since it irritates skin and gets licked off. Both coats shed moderately year round, so this is not a low shedding breed in any season.

Q: What does a Miniature Dachshund puppy cost, and what comes with it?

A: Prices run from about $1,495 to $2,995 depending on color, coat type, sex, and genetics. That includes the three year health guarantee, registration, the vet exam and health record, microchip registration, current vaccinations and dewormings, a bag of food, and the blanket the litter has been sleeping on. Delivery to New York is separate at $350 for ground transport. The reservation deposit is $200, and it is non refundable but transferable to another available puppy.

Q: Can I reserve a puppy before the litter is born?

A: Yes. We post upcoming litters on the site and you can claim a pick ahead of time with the same $200 deposit. We do not keep a waitlist, so this is how families get first choice on colors and coat types that go quickly. If nothing on the site fits what you are after right now, the newsletter is the other route, since it goes out when new litters become available and lets you pick which breeds you hear about.

Q: Can New York families visit before buying?

A: You are welcome to come out to Fresno by appointment, Monday through Saturday. You can meet the puppy and its mother, though the father is not always on site, since we occasionally use an outside stud service to strengthen a pairing. Most families who are eight or nine hours out skip the drive and do a FaceTime call instead, which gives you a live look at the puppy without the trip. Call or text 330-790-5007 with questions either way.
