Miniature Dachshund Puppies for Sale in Texas

Families looking for Miniature Dachshund puppies for sale in Texas can reserve one from The Puppy Lodge, a program the Nisley family has run for more than thirteen years from a five acre farm in Fresno, Ohio. Our mini doxies mature at roughly eight to eleven pounds, with the bold, curious personality the breed is known for packed into a lap sized dog. Every puppy leaves vet checked, microchipped, current on vaccinations and dewormings, and covered by a written three year health guarantee. The conditions that keep coverage active are listed in the full guarantee.

Texas is a long way from our part of Ohio. Depending on whether you live near Texarkana or out toward El Paso, the drive runs somewhere between sixteen and twenty six hours one way. Almost none of our Texas families make that trip themselves, so we arrange either a van straight to the house or a flight nanny into a Texas airport near you.

Our Available Miniature Dachshund Puppies

The puppies listed below are the ones ready to go home right now, along with any upcoming litters open for a pick. Each listing shows the price, color, coat type, and sex, and you can reserve directly on the page with a $200 deposit. Prices start at $1,495 and move with genetics, color, coat, and sex. Financing runs through Credova and the application is online.

A deposit reserves a puppy, not a place in line. We keep no list, so the first deposit on a puppy takes it. If you want to see one up close before you decide, we set up a FaceTime call. Once a puppy is reserved, we talk through delivery on the phone and get it scheduled to Texas.

Delivery to Texas: Ground Transport, Flight Nanny, and Farm Pickup

Ground transport is what most Texas families choose. There are two drivers in every van, so a puppy is never unattended at a fuel stop or overnight. It travels in an individual carrier in a custom climate controlled van, vet checked before the trip, with updates from the road. The flat fee for Texas is around $450. Vans leave Ohio on Tuesday mornings and a run this far usually takes two to three days depending on the route and where in the state you live, so a family in Houston or the Rio Grande Valley should plan on the longer end.

A flight nanny is the faster option and the one we suggest if you want your puppy home the same day. You do not need a ticket or a gate pass. The nanny brings the puppy out to baggage claim and hands it over there. Cargo is not part of it at any point. Most Texas flights land at Dallas Fort Worth International, George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, Austin Bergstrom International, or San Antonio International, and we can look at whichever is closest to you. Flight nanny service is quoted per flight since airfare changes, and it costs more than ground. The puppy has to be at least eight weeks old, under twenty pounds with the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate from a licensed vet. Weight is never an issue with this breed, since a mini doxie at go home age is usually four to five pounds.

Farm pickup is always open to you if you happen to be traveling through the Midwest. You come to Fresno by appointment, meet the puppy's mother, walk the kennel, and go through the vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee with us in person. For a family driving from Texas that is a two day trip each way, so we only suggest it if the drive already fits your plans.

Summer heat is hard on a dog built close to the ground, and pavement in July will burn a belly and paws that sit only five or six inches off it. We schedule Texas deliveries so the handoff happens in the morning or evening rather than the middle of a hot afternoon.

About Our Miniature Dachshund Puppy Breeder Program Serving Texas

The Puppy Lodge owns every parent dog behind our litters. Those dogs are health and genetically tested before they are ever bred, and they are chosen for temperament, pedigree, color genetics, and, with this breed especially, sound spinal structure. Litters are raised across a closed network of kennels near our farm by breeders who work only with our dogs and follow our standards, and the vet from Danville Veterinary Clinic comes out weekly to check adult dogs and new litters. By the time a puppy leaves it has been through the Early Neurological Stimulation protocol from day three to day sixteen, handled and played with daily by our children, and started on potty and crate training before eight weeks.

Being fifteen hundred miles from Texas means you cannot drive over and look at our kennel on a Saturday afternoon, so we make up for it in what we can show and what we put in writing. That means FaceTime calls, photos, a three year health guarantee, and a phone number you can call or text. If you want to understand the breed itself before you reserve, our Miniature Dachshund breed guide covers temperament, care, and the back health topic in depth.

Miniature Dachshund FAQs Of Texas Families

Q: How much does a Miniature Dachshund puppy cost, and what does delivery to Texas add?

A: Puppies start at $1,495 and go up to roughly $2,995 depending on color, coat type, genetics, and sex. Ground delivery to Texas is around $450 as a flat fee. A flight nanny is quoted separately for each trip because it depends on airfare into your closest airport. Financing through Credova is available if you would rather spread the cost out.

Q: How long does it take to get a puppy from Ohio to Texas?

A: Ground transport vans leave on Tuesday mornings and a Texas run generally takes two to three days on the road. A flight nanny is almost always same day, leaving Ohio in the morning and meeting you in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio that afternoon or evening. We sort out which option fits after the puppy is reserved.

Q: Can a Miniature Dachshund handle Texas summers?

A: They manage fine with some planning. Walk early in the morning and after sundown, keep the middle of the day for indoor play and puzzle toys, and check the pavement with your hand before you head out. This breed needs thirty to sixty minutes of movement a day and a lot of that can happen inside a cool house. A longhaired doxie does not overheat faster than a smooth one, so coat type is not a factor in choosing for a hot climate.

Q: What about back problems in this breed?

A: Intervertebral Disc Disease is the health topic that matters most with Dachshunds. The long spine that made them good at going down badger tunnels is also what puts them at risk, and genetics play a large part in it. We screen our parent dogs and factor spinal structure into every pairing, which lowers the likelihood, though no breeder can rule the risk out entirely, and our three year guarantee is in writing. On your end, keeping the dog lean is the biggest thing you control, followed by a ramp for the couch and the bed, limiting stairs, and walking on a harness rather than a collar. Repetitive high impact exercise is worth postponing until after twelve months.

Q: Will a mini doxie work in an apartment in Austin or Dallas?

A: Yes, and plenty of ours live in apartments. They do not need a yard, just consistent walks. The thing to prepare for is the barking, because this breed was bred to bark loudly enough to be heard from underground and will announce anyone who walks past your door. Daily exercise, a predictable routine, something to chew, and never rewarding the barking with attention will keep it to a normal level. What you tolerate early becomes the habit, so start the way you want to continue.

Q: Can I see the puppy before it travels to Texas?

A: We do FaceTime calls so you can watch the puppy move around and ask questions in real time. You are also welcome at the farm by appointment if you are ever passing through Ohio, and you can meet the mother while you are here. Otherwise call or text us at 330-790-5007 and we will send photos and video of any puppy you are considering.
