Miniature Poodle Puppies for Sale in Illinois

The Puppy Lodge has Miniature Poodle puppies for sale in Illinois, raised by breeders who work with us in east-central Ohio. Each puppy has started potty and crate training by the time it leaves us, which gives you a head start on house training once it is settled in Illinois. It also has a microchip, its current vaccinations and dewormings, and a health record of its own. Only Indiana sits between our part of Ohio and the Illinois line, and a van can bring your puppy straight to your home.

Choosing a Miniature Poodle Puppy From Illinois

You can browse, reserve, and pay online. The starting price for one of our Mini Poodles is $1,995, and the final number depends on its color, coat type, and gender. Reserving takes a $200 deposit. Should your plans change, that non-refundable $200 carries over to another available puppy. Whichever puppy you choose comes home once it is at least eight weeks old.

Listed puppies are first come, first served, and we don't run a waitlist. We also post litters that haven't arrived yet, and a pick from one of those can be yours before the puppies are born. A FaceTime call lets you watch a puppy play and ask us questions from home before you reserve. You can apply for Credova financing online if paying over time works better for you. When nothing below fits, sign up for our newsletter, which announces new litters first by email or text. We deliver statewide, so where you live in Illinois won't narrow your choice of puppy.

Getting Your Miniature Poodle Puppy Home to Illinois

Once your deposit is in, we call to work out the travel method with you. Most homes in the state are roughly 6 to 10 hours west of our farm in Fresno by road, with the Chicago suburbs on the closer end and places like Rockford, the Quad Cities, and Carbondale farther out. Every puppy gets a blanket with its mother's scent, however it travels. We also send a bag of the food it eats now, so the switch to a new food can be gradual.

Home Delivery by Van for Illinois Families

This is the option we suggest for Illinois, since the drive is a manageable length and nobody has to go to an airport. The van is custom built and climate-controlled, and the professional pet transport service that runs it puts two drivers on every trip west. Each puppy is looked over by a vet before departure and rides in a carrier of its own. Updates come to your phone during the drive, and we settle on a delivery date with you in advance. Delivery to any Illinois address costs around $350.

Flying With a Flight Nanny

For a quicker trip, we can book a trained flight nanny on a commercial airline. Your puppy spends the entire flight in the cabin, zipped into an airline-approved soft carrier tucked under the seat ahead of its escort. Nothing rides in cargo. Chicago families can meet the nanny at O'Hare International (ORD) or Chicago Midway (MDW). Other Illinois options include General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International (PIA), Central Illinois Regional in Bloomington (BMI), Quad Cities International in Moline (MLI), and MidAmerica St. Louis Airport (BLV) near Belleville in the Metro East.

Your puppy's health certificate comes from a licensed vet ahead of time. During the trip the nanny sends photos and video, and the handoff to you happens at baggage claim. To use the service, a puppy has to be under 20 lbs counting its carrier, and an eight week old Mini Poodle comes nowhere close. Nanny trips run higher than van delivery, and we quote each one based on the flight. Winter weather in northern Illinois sometimes pushes flights back, so keep your dates flexible.

Picking Up at the Farm

Driving to Fresno yourself is also an option, and from Illinois the trip works well as an overnight. Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, you can book a time to visit or pick up. We keep the puppy's vaccination records, microchip registration, and health guarantee on hand to review with you, and you can see the mother and the kennel while you are there.

The Miniature Poodle Puppy Breeder Network Serving Illinois Families

The Nisley family started raising dogs more than 13 years ago on five acres in Coshocton County. The Puppy Lodge operates under a broker license, and a closed group of kennels near Fresno raises our litters. The breeders in it keep only Puppy Lodge dogs and follow our health and breeding standards. No puppy we sell was born outside that group. Apart from the occasional outside stud, every parent dog is owned by The Puppy Lodge.

Before a Mini Poodle pairing, both parents get genetic tests and health screens that cover coat and color traits as well as progressive retinal atrophy. The odds go down with screening, though no breeder can rule the risk out for good, and we prefer to say so plainly. Each week a Danville Veterinary Clinic vet comes out to look over our adult dogs and their new litters. In a small breed, those checkups catch loose kneecaps and early eye changes sooner than an owner can.

The puppies are handled and played with every day, with early neurological stimulation from day 3 to day 16. As a Miniature Poodle puppy breeder serving Illinois from Ohio, we keep the testing records for each puppy's parents and will go over them with you by phone. Our buyers have posted more than 50 Google reviews, and a written three year health guarantee comes with each puppy.

FAQs Of Illinois Families Looking for Miniature Poodles

Q: Can we meet the parents before bringing a puppy back to Illinois?

A: A visit to Fresno lets you hold your puppy and meet its mother. You may not meet the father, since we bring in an outside stud now and then to strengthen the program. If the drive from Illinois doesn't fit your schedule, we can show you the puppy and its mother over FaceTime instead.

Q: How does a Mini Poodle handle an Illinois winter?

A: Road salt on city sidewalks dries out paw pads, so wipe your dog's feet when you come inside. A Mini Poodle still needs 45 to 60 minutes of activity a day in winter. On a bitter January morning, a puzzle feeder or ten minutes of training in the kitchen can wear it out more than a longer walk.

Q: Will a Mini Poodle do well in a Chicago condo?

A: Plenty of Mini Poodles live happily in condos, since they are clean, low odor, and quiet indoors once their exercise needs are met. A loop on the Lakefront Trail or around the block covers the walking. The harder part for commuters is time alone, and a Mini Poodle shouldn't be left for a full workday without a dog walker or daycare. Adults weigh 10 to 15 lbs, which helps if your building has a pet weight limit.

Q: What grooming will our puppy need?

A: A groomer visit every four to six weeks is normal for a Mini Poodle, at roughly $50 to $80 each time. At home, work a brush through the curly coat every other day and pay extra attention behind the ears, under the legs, and at the collar, where mats start. A mat that sets in tight usually has to be shaved off. After a swim in Lake Michigan or a backyard pool, dry your Poodle's drop ears well because they hold moisture.

Q: Will our puppy's coat color change as it grows?

A: It might. Poodle coats can change shade during the first year or two, with red softening to apricot or black turning silver or blue. Lightening like this is normal and doesn't point to a health problem. Call us if you are hoping for a particular shade, and we can look at how color has shifted in the parents' lines. Coat color and grooming get more space in our guide to what you should know before bringing home a Miniature Poodle.
