Teddy Bear Puppies for Sale in North Carolina

Our Teddy Bear puppies for sale in North Carolina come from The Puppy Lodge, a family program based on a five acre farm in Fresno, Ohio. Teddy Bears are a Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise cross, usually 8 to 15 pounds full grown, with a plush wavy coat and the calm, people focused personality both parent breeds are known for. They settle into a Charlotte apartment as easily as a house outside Boone.

North Carolina sits about seven to eleven hours south of us by road, close enough that most families here have their puppy the day after it leaves the kennel. Every puppy is vet checked, microchipped, current on shots, and covered by a written three year health guarantee.

Available Teddy Bear Puppies for North Carolina Families

Everything listed below is available right now with a photo, a price, and a reserve button. Teddy Bears start at $1,995, and the price moves with coat type, color, and gender. Reserving takes a $200 deposit, which is non refundable but transfers to another available puppy if your situation changes. Financing runs through Credova and you can apply online in a few minutes.

We do not keep a waitlist, so puppies go first come, first served and a listed puppy can be claimed by someone else the same afternoon. If nothing here fits, our upcoming litters are open for reservation before the puppies are born, and the newsletter tells you when a new litter posts. Once your puppy is reserved, we call to sort out how it gets to North Carolina, whether that is our van at your door, a flight nanny, or a visit to the farm.

Teddy Bear Puppy Delivery to North Carolina

Three ways to get your puppy home, all decided on a phone call after you reserve.

Home delivery is what most North Carolina families choose. A professional transport service drives your puppy door to door in a climate controlled van, in its own carrier, with a vet check before the trip and updates from the driver along the way. Delivery to North Carolina currently runs $350, flat statewide. Ground runs leave Tuesday mornings, and since the drive is roughly seven hours to the Asheville area and closer to eleven out toward Wilmington and the Outer Banks, most deliveries here land next day. Nobody has to drive to an airport.

Flight nanny is the fastest option and usually finishes same day. A handler carries your puppy in the cabin beside them, never in cargo, and hands the puppy to you at baggage claim. Charlotte Douglas and Raleigh Durham get the most direct service, and Piedmont Triad in Greensboro, Wilmington International, and Asheville Regional all work as well. Teddy Bears clear the 20 pound in cabin limit with plenty of room, so they travel comfortably in a soft carrier under the seat. Puppies need to be at least eight weeks old and have a health certificate, which we arrange, and you need some flexibility in case weather pushes a flight. Cost is quoted per flight.

Farm pickup is welcome any time by appointment, Monday through Saturday. It is a long day from most of North Carolina, but families who make the drive get to meet the puppy's mother, walk through the kennel, and go over the health records and microchip paperwork with us in person.

For most of the state we point people toward home delivery. It costs less than flying a nanny out, the timing is predictable, and a climate controlled van matters for this breed. Teddy Bears have a slightly shortened muzzle from the Shih Tzu side, which makes them less tolerant of heat, and North Carolina summers get warm and humid well into September.

The Puppy Lodge, a Teddy Bear Puppy Breeder Serving North Carolina

The Nisley family has raised dogs for more than thirteen years. Every parent dog is owned by The Puppy Lodge and genetically tested before a pairing, and litters are raised across a small closed network of kennels near our farm run by breeders who work only with our dogs and follow our standards. Our vet from Danville Veterinary Clinic comes out weekly to check the adults and the new litters. Buildings are climate controlled, with heated tile floors through the Ohio winter and geothermal cooling in summer.

With Teddy Bears we pay attention to a few things in particular. Every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation from day three to day sixteen, which builds early stress tolerance and helps with a breed that bonds hard and can develop separation anxiety if alone time is never practiced. Our kids handle the puppies daily, and potty and crate training start before go home at eight weeks. Because both parent breeds carry some risk for knee, eye, and dental problems that show up across most small breeds, we screen for what we can and are upfront about the rest. For the full picture on the breed, read our guide to Teddy Bear puppies before you bring one home.

We are a long drive from North Carolina, and there are closer options. What you get for the distance is a program where the same people own the parents, run the testing, and stand behind a three year guarantee, plus transport built around the puppy rather than left to you to figure out.

Teddy Bear FAQs Of North Carolina Families

Q: How much does a Teddy Bear puppy cost delivered to North Carolina?

A: Teddy Bears start at $1,995 and go up depending on coat, color, and gender. Home delivery to any address in North Carolina adds that flat $350 on top. Flight nanny service is quoted separately since the price depends on the airport and the day. A $200 deposit holds your puppy and comes off the total.

Q: How well do Teddy Bears handle North Carolina heat?

A: They do fine with normal summer activity, but they are not a hot weather breed. The shorter muzzle they get from the Shih Tzu side makes heavy exertion in July and August harder on them than it would be on a longer nosed dog. Walk early or late, keep water available, and skip the midday hike on the Neuse River trail when it is ninety degrees. Indoors with air conditioning they are perfectly comfortable.

Q: Are Teddy Bears a good fit for an apartment in Charlotte or Raleigh?

A: Yes, this is one of the better apartment dogs we raise. They need twenty to thirty minutes of activity a day, which a walk and some indoor play covers, and they are quieter than most small breeds. They will announce someone at the door and then stop. The thing to plan for is alone time, since they bond closely and need practice being by themselves if you work outside the home.

Q: Do Teddy Bears shed, and will one work in a household with allergies?

A: Very little. The coat holds loose hair instead of dropping it, so less dander ends up in the air, which is why they suit a lot of mildly allergic households. No breed is truly allergen free though, and severe allergies are a different situation. Reactions vary dog to dog, so we can set up a FaceTime call or a farm visit to test it before you decide.

Q: What grooming will a Teddy Bear need in North Carolina?

A: Plan on brushing several times a week and a professional groom every six to eight weeks. The coat grows continuously and mats at the ears, chest, and behind the legs if it is left alone. Humidity along the coast and in the Sandhills makes their floppy ears worth checking weekly, since trapped moisture is what leads to ear infections. Many owners keep a shorter puppy cut through the summer.

Q: Can I visit the kennel in Ohio before I decide?

A: You are welcome to, by appointment Monday through Saturday. Plenty of North Carolina families would rather not make that drive twice, so we do FaceTime calls instead where you can see the puppy and ask whatever you want. Call or text us at 330-790-5007 to set either one up.
