Teddy Bear Puppies for Sale in Georgia

Our Teddy Bear puppies for sale in Georgia come from The Puppy Lodge, a family run program based on a five acre farm in Fresno, Ohio. Teddy Bears are a Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise cross, usually 8 to 15 pounds full grown, with the plush wavy coat and round dark eyes that gave the breed its name. They are gentle, quiet for a small dog, and happiest sitting next to whoever is home.

Georgia sits about 9 to 13 hours south of our Ohio kennel depending on whether you are near Chattanooga or down toward the coast. That is a comfortable one day run for our transport vans, so most Georgia families have their puppy at the door within a few days of scheduling. Atlanta also gives us one of the busiest airports in the country to work with if you would rather meet a flight nanny.

Available Teddy Bear Puppies for Georgia Families

Every puppy listed below is already here in Ohio with a photo, a price, and a reserve button. The floor for a Teddy Bear is $1,995, and where a given puppy lands above that comes down to coat, color, and gender. There is no waitlist. Puppies go first come first served, so a puppy showing as available this morning can be reserved by another family before dinner.

Each one leaves us at 8 weeks or older, vet checked by Danville Veterinary Clinic, microchipped, current on vaccinations and dewormings, and covered by a written three year health guarantee on genetic and congenital conditions. A $200 deposit holds a puppy, financing is available through Credova, and we can set up a FaceTime call if you want to see a puppy move around before you commit. We deliver to Georgia, and we sort out exactly how after the puppy is reserved.

Getting Your Teddy Bear Puppy Home to Georgia

We do not pick the travel method at checkout. Once a puppy is reserved we call you, talk through where you live in Georgia and what your week looks like, and settle it then. There are three ways it can go.

Ground delivery is what most Georgia families choose and what we usually suggest. A professional transport service drives the puppy door to door in a climate controlled van with an individual carrier, a vet checkup before departure, and updates along the way. The fee to Georgia is currently $350, flat to any address. Vans leave Ohio on Tuesday mornings and Georgia is close enough that the trip is typically finished in a day, with most families having their puppy within three days of scheduling. Nobody has to drive to an airport.

Flight nanny is the faster option when you want the puppy the same day. A handler carries the puppy in the cabin in an airline approved soft carrier, never in cargo, sends photos and video from the trip, and meets you at baggage claim. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International is the easiest to book into given how many direct routes it has, and we also fly into Savannah/Hilton Head International and Augusta Regional. The puppy has to be at least 8 weeks old, under 20 pounds with the carrier, and traveling with a health certificate, and you need some flexibility if weather pushes the flight. Flight nanny is quoted per trip and costs more than ground.

Farm pickup is open to anyone willing to make the drive to Coshocton County. It is a long haul from Georgia, closer to a two day trip for most of the state, but families who want to tour the kennel and meet the puppy's mother do it. You come by appointment, we go through the health records and microchip registration in person, and you leave with a bag of the food the puppy is already eating and a blanket carrying its mother's scent.

One note that matters more in Georgia than in most states. Teddy Bears inherit a slightly shortened muzzle from the Shih Tzu side, so heat is something to watch with them. Summer deliveries are scheduled around the hottest part of the day, the vans stay climate controlled the whole way, and flight nannies keep the puppy in air conditioned terminals rather than outside. Once your puppy is home, the same thinking applies to July walks. Early morning and evening are kinder than midday.

Teddy Bear Puppy Breeder Serving Georgia Families

The Puppy Lodge has been raising dogs for 13 years, and Teddy Bears have been part of the program for most of that. The Nisley family owns every parent dog, and litters are raised across a closed network of local kennels near the Ohio farm run by breeders who work only with our dogs and follow our health testing and breeding standards. Nothing comes in from outside that network. The buildings have heated tile floors for winter and geothermal cooling for summer, with separate rooms where mothers stay with their litters through the first weeks.

Georgia has plenty of small dog breeders closer than we are, and the reason families still order from Ohio is what happens before the puppy ships. Both parent breeds behind a Teddy Bear are genetically tested and health screened before we pair them, which matters for a cross carrying eye conditions and patellar luxation on both sides. Our vet visits the kennel weekly and examines every litter more than once. Every puppy runs the ENS protocol from day 3 through day 16, gets handled daily by the family's children, and starts crate and potty training before go home day. That early work also gives you a head start on the main trade off of the breed, which is how deeply these dogs bond and how hard they can take being left alone. It is a head start, not a fix, and the alone time still has to be built deliberately. If you want the full picture of the breed first, read our complete Teddy Bear puppy guide.

Teddy Bear FAQs Of Georgia Families

Q: How do Teddy Bears handle Georgia summers?

A: Reasonably well as long as you plan around the heat. The shortened muzzle from the Shih Tzu parent means they are less efficient at cooling themselves than a longer nosed dog, so hard exercise in August afternoons is not a good idea. Their exercise need is only 20 to 30 minutes a day anyway, which is easy to cover with an early walk and indoor play. Shade, water, and air conditioning during the worst hours cover the rest.

Q: Is a Teddy Bear a good fit for an Atlanta apartment?

A: Yes, this is one of the better apartment dogs we raise. They top out around 9 to 12 inches at the shoulder, their exercise needs are low, and they are quieter than most small breeds. They will announce someone at the door but they are not constant barkers. Puzzle toys and short training games count toward their daily activity, so a small space is not a limitation.

Q: Will the humidity affect the coat?

A: It does not damage the coat, but it can make mats form faster because damp hair tangles more easily. Brush several times a week with a slicker or pin brush, paying attention to the ears, chest, and behind the legs where mats start. The floppy ears also trap moisture, so check and clean them weekly with a vet approved solution. Plan on professional grooming every six to eight weeks, and many Georgia owners go with a shorter puppy cut through the summer.

Q: What health issues should I ask about?

A: The main ones are patellar luxation and dental crowding from the Shih Tzu side, allergies from the Bichon side, and eye conditions like cataracts and dry eye that both parents can carry. Dental disease and hip issues show up across small breeds in general, not only in this cross. We genetically test and health screen both parent breeds before any pairing, factor structure into the match, and back every puppy with a three year written guarantee on genetic and congenital conditions. Call us at 330-790-5007 if you want to go through what we test for.

Q: Are Teddy Bears okay for someone with allergies?

A: Not truly. That word gets used loosely in dog advertising and we would rather be accurate. What Teddy Bears offer is a coat that catches shed hair instead of releasing it, so less dander moves through the house. Mild and moderate allergies are often manageable on that basis. Severe ones frequently are not. Since reactions differ from one dog to the next, meeting the specific puppy matters, which is one reason some Georgia families make the trip to Ohio before deciding.

Q: Can I use one as a therapy dog in Georgia?

A: Teddy Bears are used in therapy and emotional support roles fairly often. The size, the calm temperament, and how comfortable they are with strangers all work in their favor. Certification requirements are set by the organization you register through, not by us. If therapy work is your goal, call before you reserve so we can point you toward a puppy whose temperament suits it.
