A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Louisiana Life

A Fluffy Frenchie is a natural fit for the way people live in Louisiana. Whether you're in a New Orleans shotgun house, a place near LSU in Baton Rouge, or a quiet spot out in Cajun country, these calm little dogs ask for nothing more than a short walk and plenty of time at your side. They're indoor companions at heart, which suits the Louisiana climate perfectly, and their easygoing, affectionate nature fits right in with the state's warm, sociable spirit.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

At heart, a Fluffy Frenchie is just a French Bulldog wearing a longer, softer coat than the short one you'd normally expect. All the classic Frenchie charm is right there: the flat little face, the big upright ears, the sturdy body, and the affectionate, faintly goofy way they have with their people. The long coat comes from a recessive gene both parents must carry, and because so few breeders test for it, fluffies stay rare. We test our dogs, so we can tell you which puppies in a litter are fluffy from the earliest days.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Louisiana

Louisiana is a good distance south of our Ohio farm, but bringing your puppy home is straightforward, and we do it for Louisiana families often. You have three ways to go about it.

Flight nanny — the option most Louisiana families pick. A nanny carries your puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, on one of the direct flights into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) or Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR). It's a short, easy trip for the puppy.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can drive your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, whether you're in the city or out in the parishes.

Farm pickup — you're always welcome to visit the farm in Ohio by appointment, meet the parents, and take your puppy home yourself.

Raising a Frenchie in the Louisiana Heat

Louisiana is one of the hottest, most humid places in the whole country, and that makes summer heat the single most important thing to manage with a flat-faced dog.

Frenchies cool themselves by panting, and thick, wet air makes panting far less effective. In a Louisiana summer, when the temperature and the humidity are both high, a short-nosed dog can overheat fast. The answer is simple and non-negotiable: keep your Frenchie indoors with the air conditioning during the heat of the day, save walks for early morning or after sundown, always carry water, and never leave them outside or in a parked car. Think of your Frenchie as an air-conditioned dog for much of the year, and you'll both do fine.

The good news is that Louisiana barely has a winter. Outside of a few cool weeks, the weather is gentle, and you'll get lovely stretches in the cooler months when a Frenchie can enjoy being outdoors comfortably. A relaxed evening walk around the lake at City Park in New Orleans, along the LSU Lakes in Baton Rouge, or by Lake Pontchartrain is perfect for them once the air cools down.

FAQs Of Louisiana Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:Can a Frenchie really handle the Louisiana humidity?

A:Yes, when they're kept cool and mostly indoors through the hot months, which is how Frenchies all across the South live happily. Problems only start when a flat-faced dog is left out in the thick heat too long. Keep their outdoor time short, shaded, and to the cooler hours, and a Louisiana Frenchie does just fine.

Q:Do Frenchies get along with the Louisiana lifestyle?

A:Wonderfully. They're social, people-loving little dogs that love company, so they fit right into a state that loves to gather. Just keep the get-togethers indoors or in the shade when it's hot, and your Frenchie will happily be the center of attention.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
