Fluffy Frenchies are easygoing, affectionate, and just as happy in a downtown Austin apartment as in a big Dallas backyard. They don't need long runs in the heat. They'd rather be next to you in the AC, which is also the best way to keep this breed comfortable in a Texas summer.
What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special
A Fluffy Frenchie is a real French Bulldog, with the same bat ears and sweet, playful nature. The one difference is the coat. Most Frenchies have short fur. A Fluffy has longer, softer fur around the ears, chest, and legs. It takes one special gene that both parents have to carry, and most breeders never test for it, so true fluffies are hard to find. We test ours, so we always know which puppies in a litter will have the coat.
Getting Your Puppy Home to Texas
Texas is about a 20-hour drive from our farm in Ohio, which is why most Texas families use one of our safe delivery options rather than making the trip themselves. We work with a professional pet transport company whose only job is moving animals safely. Your puppy rides in a climate-controlled vehicle with experienced handlers who keep young Frenchies calm and comfortable the whole way.

Keeping Your Frenchie Cool in Texas
Frenchies have flat faces, so they can't cool themselves as well as long-nosed dogs. That matters in Texas, where Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio sit in the mid-90s for much of the summer.
One thing surprises most new owners: humidity is harder on a Frenchie than plain heat. Panting only cools a dog when the air is dry enough to carry the moisture away. So a muggy 80-degree morning on the Houston coast can be tougher on your pup than a dry 95 out in El Paso. Wherever you are in Texas, three habits keep a Frenchie safe:
- Walk early or after sundown. Skip the midday heat, and test the pavement with your hand first.
- Let the AC do the cooling on hot or humid days.
- Watch for heavy panting, drooling, or a wobbly dog. Cool them down and call your vet. And never leave a Frenchie in a parked car.
With a little planning around the heat, a Frenchie does great in Texas. Get your walks in early, when the Katy Trail in Dallas or the Trinity Trails in Fort Worth are still cool and shaded, then head back to the AC for a nap through the hottest part of the day. That easy rhythm is all this breed needs to thrive here.
