A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Washington Life

A Fluffy Frenchie feels at home throughout Washington, from a downtown Seattle condo to a place in Tacoma or out in Spokane. These are affectionate, low-key dogs, content with a short walk and a soft place to nap the rest of the day. They ask for your company more than your acreage, happy to trade a big yard for a seat next to you. For anyone who wants a devoted little shadow, it's hard to do better than a Frenchie.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

Meet the Fluffy Frenchie: a French Bulldog through and through, only wearing a long, plush coat where you'd normally see a short one. The look comes down to a single recessive gene, rare enough that most breeders never test for it, which keeps true fluffies uncommon. Set the coat aside and you've got the usual Frenchie, sturdy and affectionate with a bit of a clown streak. Because we test our dogs, we can tell which pups will turn out fluffy from the start.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Washington

Washington is a long haul from our Ohio farm, but getting your puppy home is simple, and we do it all the time. You have three ways to go about it.

Flight nanny — the option most Washington families choose. A nanny carries your puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, on the nonstop from Columbus into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). For the eastern side of the state, Spokane International Airport (GEG) is the closer landing. The puppy naps most of the way.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can drive your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in Washington.

Farm pickup — you're always welcome to come meet the parents and take your puppy home yourself. You can drive in, or fly into one of three nearby airports and make a short trip out to the farm: Akron-Canton is about an hour and 20 minutes away, Columbus about an hour and a half, and Pittsburgh about two hours. Just set up a time with us first.

Rain in Seattle, Snow in Spokane

Seattle has a reputation for rain, and it earns it, but for a Fluffy Frenchie the bigger story west of the Cascades is how mild it stays. Summers rarely push past the seventies, which is a real gift for a flat-faced dog that struggles in heat, and hard freezes are few and far between. The overcast, damp stretches mostly just mean more time indoors, and no dog is better suited to a quiet day on the couch than a Frenchie.

Cross over to the eastern side of the state and the weather changes completely. Around Spokane and the Columbia Plateau, the air turns dry, summers run hotter, and winters bring cold and snow. That's the season to watch: a Frenchie's short single coat isn't built for freezing temperatures, so keep winter walks brief, add a sweater when it's cold, and let the deep-snow days be indoor days.

The gentler, in-between seasons are the easiest time to get out and about. A slow lap around Green Lake or through Discovery Park in Seattle, or a stretch of the Centennial Trail over in Spokane, is all an easygoing Frenchie really needs. No need to rush, with time to stop and sniff along the way.

FAQs Of Washington Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:How does delivery to Washington work?

A:Washington is a good way from our Ohio farm, so most families choose a flight nanny, who flies with your puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, on a nonstop into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), or into Spokane International Airport (GEG) on the eastern side. A specialized pet transport service can also drive your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, or you're welcome to pick up at the farm in person.

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies good apartment dogs?

A:They're one of the best breeds for it. Frenchies are small, quiet by nature, and don't need a yard or long runs to stay content, so a couple of short walks and some indoor play will do. The main thing is to keep them cool, since a flat-faced dog does better in a climate-controlled space than a stuffy one. In a studio or a house, a Frenchie is equally at home.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
