A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Idaho Life

Idaho is a state that loves the outdoors, and while a Fluffy Frenchie is no backcountry adventurer, they're a wonderful companion for the easygoing side of life here. These are calm, affectionate little dogs that are content with a short walk and lots of time at your feet, so a gentle stroll along a greenbelt suits them far better than a mountain trail. Whether you're in a Boise suburb or a small town up north, they settle in happily.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

The Fluffy Frenchie is simply a French Bulldog with a long, plush coat rather than the short one you usually see. Under that coat, everything is classic Frenchie: the flat, wrinkly face, the big rounded ears, and a sweet, silly, deeply loyal nature. The long hair traces to a single recessive gene, and a puppy only turns out fluffy when both parents pass it along. Because few breeders bother to test for it, fluffies stay uncommon. We do test, so we can tell you which pups in a litter will be fluffy from day one.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Idaho

Idaho is one of the farthest states from our Ohio farm, but the distance is no obstacle, and we place puppies out there all the time. You have three ways to bring yours home.

Flight nanny — the easiest option for most Idaho families. A nanny holds your puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, and flies into Boise Airport (BOI) or Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA). It's quick and low-stress for the puppy.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can drive your puppy to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, comfortable the entire way.

Farm pickup — you're always welcome to visit the farm in Ohio by appointment, meet the parents, and take your puppy home yourself.

Raising a Frenchie in Idaho

Idaho's air is dry, and the year runs to two real extremes, so a little seasonal planning keeps your Frenchie comfortable.

Winters are cold and snowy across most of the state, and deeper still up north and in the mountains. A Frenchie's short coat doesn't hold up to that, so put a sweater or coat on them for walks, keep those walks short when it's bitter, and let them thaw out somewhere warm afterward. Luckily, a Frenchie is glad to spend a snowy day indoors close to you.

Summers are hot and dry, especially down in the Treasure Valley. The dry air is a bit easier on a flat-faced dog than sticky humidity would be, but real heat is still real heat, so walk in the cool of the morning or evening, watch out for hot pavement, and keep water within reach. The dry climate also means your Frenchie can get thirsty faster than you'd think, in any season.

In the milder stretches of spring and fall, Idaho is a beautiful place to potter around outdoors with a dog. An easy, level walk on the Boise River Greenbelt is a perfect outing for a laid-back Frenchie.

FAQs Of Idaho Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:Is a Frenchie too laid-back for outdoorsy Idaho?

A:Not at all, they just enjoy it their own way. A Frenchie won't be hiking the Sawtooths or hitting the slopes, but they love an easy walk and the fresh air as much as anyone. Match the outing to a small, flat-faced dog and you'll both have a great time.

Q:How do Frenchies handle cold Idaho winters?

A:Well enough, as long as you plan for it. Their thin coat means they lose warmth fast, so layer them up before heading out and don't stay out long on the coldest days. Most Frenchies are more than happy to trade a snowy afternoon for the couch.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
