What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special
Run your hand over a Fluffy Frenchie and you feel what makes it special: a long, silky coat in place of the short, sleek fur a standard French Bulldog has. The look comes from a recessive trait, and since few breeders test for it, real fluffies are hard to come by. Under all that fluff sits a classic French Bulldog: snuffly, big-eared, and devoted to the nearest warm lap. We test our dogs, so we know which puppies in a litter will be fluffy before they're born.
Getting Your Puppy Home to Oregon
Oregon is a long way from our Ohio farm, clear across the country, but getting your puppy home is simple, and we do it all the time. You have three ways to go about it.
Flight nanny — the option most Oregon families choose. A nanny carries your puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, into Portland International Airport (PDX), the state's main hub. For the south end of the Willamette Valley, Eugene Airport (EUG) works well, and Roberts Field (RDM) in Redmond is the closest option for Bend and central Oregon. It's an easy trip for the puppy.
Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can drive your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in Oregon.
Farm pickup — you're always welcome to come meet the parents and take your puppy home yourself. You can drive in, or fly into one of three nearby airports and make a short trip out to the farm: Akron-Canton is about an hour and 20 minutes away, Columbus about an hour and a half, and Pittsburgh about two hours. Just set up a time with us first.
Made for Drizzly Days
For a Fluffy Frenchie, western Oregon might be one of the easiest climates in the country. The winters that give the region its gray reputation are actually mild, with rain far more common than a hard freeze, and the summers are warm and pleasant rather than scorching. A dog that struggles in deep cold and heavy heat does just fine in weather this temperate.
The main thing to manage is the wet. Frenchies aren't big fans of rain, and a soaked coat turns cold and clammy, so a quick towel-dry after walks and a light raincoat through the rainy months go a long way. On the wettest days, most Frenchies are more than content to skip the walk and wait it out indoors anyway.
Head east over the Cascades and it's a different story, where the high desert around Bend brings colder, snowier winters and hot, dry summers. Wherever you are, the aim is the same: keep your Frenchie warm and dry in winter, cool and shaded through the summer heat, and they'll be comfortable all year. When the weather's fine, a stroll along Portland's waterfront or through the trees at Forest Park is about all a Frenchie asks for.
