They don't need much room or hard exercise, just a short walk and plenty of time with their people. For a lot of California families, that's a perfect match.
What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special
A Fluffy Frenchie is a French Bulldog through and through, with the flat face, the bat ears, and the big personality the breed is loved for. The one thing that sets a fluffy apart is a longer, softer coat, and it comes from a single gene that both parents have to carry. That combination is uncommon, and most breeders don't test for it. We do, so we know before a litter is even born which puppies will turn out fluffy.
Getting Your Puppy Home to California
California is the farthest we deliver, roughly a 2,000-mile trip from our farm in Ohio, so we've made the process safe and easy for families out west. You have a couple of good options.
Flight nanny — the most popular choice for California. A nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin to a major California airport, like Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), San Diego International Airport (SAN), or Sacramento International Airport (SMF). Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.
Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can also drive your puppy to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, with experienced handlers who keep young Frenchies comfortable the whole way.
Farm pickup — if you happen to be traveling our way, you're always welcome to visit the farm by appointment, meet the parents, and take your puppy home yourself.
Raising a Frenchie in California's Many Climates
California isn't one climate, it's several, and where you live decides how much you need to think about the weather. The good news is that a big part of the state is close to ideal for this breed.
On the coast — from San Diego up through Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Bay Area, the mild, steady weather genuinely suits this breed. Summers stay comfortable, winters are gentle, and a flat-faced dog can enjoy being outside most of the year. Honestly, coastal California is one of the best Frenchie climates in the country.
In the inland valleys — around Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield, summers get seriously hot and dry, often into the high 90s and beyond. There, a Frenchie is an indoor, air-conditioned dog through the hottest months. Walk early or after sundown, and keep water close.
In the desert — out toward Palm Springs, summer heat is extreme, well over 100 degrees. A Frenchie can live there happily, but only as an indoor dog in summer, with outdoor time saved for early morning and the cooler months.
Wherever you are, California gives a Frenchie plenty to enjoy. The state is full of dog-friendly spots, from Ocean Beach Dog Beach in San Diego to Rosie's Dog Beach in Long Beach, perfect for a cool morning outing before the day warms up.
