A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Arizona Life

A Fluffy Frenchie is a natural fit for Arizona, where an indoor-loving little dog is exactly what the climate calls for. They're happy in a Scottsdale condo or a Gilbert house with a yard, and either way they'd rather be inside with you than out in the sun. They don't need much exercise, just a short walk when it's cool and plenty of lap time, which suits the desert lifestyle well.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

A Fluffy Frenchie is a purebred French Bulldog wearing a longer, softer coat than the standard short one. Underneath it, everything is pure Frenchie: the squished face, the big ears, and the affectionate, funny little personality. The coat is the work of one recessive gene, which both parents must carry for a puppy to come out fluffy. Very few breeders test for that gene, so real fluffies stay hard to find. We test our dogs, which is how we know which puppies in a litter will be fluffy before they arrive.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Arizona

Arizona is a long way from our farm in Ohio, but we send puppies out there often, and the trip is smooth. You have three ways to bring yours home.

Flight nanny — the top choice for Arizona families. A nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, on a direct route into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) or Tucson International Airport (TUS). It's fast and easy on the puppy.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can also drive your puppy to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, which keeps them cool and comfortable the whole way.

Farm pickup — you're always welcome to visit the farm in Ohio by appointment if you'd like to meet the litter and make the trip yourself.

Raising a Frenchie in the Desert

There's no way around it: Arizona summers are intense, and a Frenchie needs you to plan around them. The good part is that the heat is dry, which is a little easier on a flat-faced dog's breathing than the muggy heat back east. The hard part is that dry or not, 105 degrees is dangerous, so summer is the season to be careful.

A few rules keep your Frenchie safe when it's hot:

  • Make them an indoor dog in summer. Keep your Frenchie in the air conditioning through the heat of the day, and save any outside time for early morning or after dark.
  • Protect their paws. Pavement gets hot enough to burn little paw pads. Press the back of your hand to the sidewalk for a few seconds, and if you can't hold it there, it's too hot for your dog. Grass or dirt is safer, and so is a dawn walk before the ground heats up.
  • Water, always. Keep fresh water everywhere, indoors and out, and never leave your dog in a parked car, not even for a minute.

Now the good news: Arizona winters are wonderful. While the rest of the country bundles up, you'll be enjoying mild, sunny days in the 60s and 70s, which is perfect weather to walk your Frenchie at Papago Park or Reid Park in Tucson. And if you're up north around Flagstaff, your Arizona looks different altogether, with cool pine forests and real snow in winter, so a sweater earns its keep up there.

FAQs Of Arizona Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:Can a Frenchie really live in the Arizona heat?

A:Yes, and plenty do, very happily. The whole trick is respecting the summer: let the AC be their daytime home, do your walking when the sun is down, and mind the hot ground under their paws. Handle those months with care and a Frenchie thrives here, especially once the lovely Arizona winter rolls around.

Q:Is the dry heat better or worse than humid heat for a Frenchie?

A:A little of both. On the plus side, a short-nosed dog copes with dry air better than the sticky humidity of the South, where damp heat really works against their breathing. The catch is that Arizona simply gets too hot in summer for that to matter much, so you still treat the season with real caution.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
