A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Colorado Life
Fluffy Frenchies are easygoing, affectionate little dogs that fit right into Colorado living, whether that's a loft in downtown Denver or a house up toward the foothills. They're low-energy by nature, happy with a short walk and a warm spot to curl up in. They aren't hiking companions for a fourteener, but for everyday life with an active family, they're a wonderful, low-maintenance little dog.
What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special
A Fluffy Frenchie has everything you picture in a French Bulldog, the flat face, the bat ears, the compact little body, plus one thing you don't often see: a soft, longer coat. That coat comes from a single recessive gene, and both parents have to carry it for a puppy to be born fluffy. It's rare, and most breeders never test for the gene at all. We do test ours, so we can tell which of our puppies will be fluffy before a litter is even on the ground.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Colorado
Colorado is a long way from our farm in Ohio, but distance is no obstacle. We get puppies to Colorado families all the time, and you have three ways to bring yours home.
Flight nanny — the most popular choice for Colorado. A nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, on a direct route into Denver International Airport (DEN) or Colorado Springs Airport (COS). It's quick and low-stress for the puppy.
Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can also drive your puppy straight to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in the state.
Farm pickup — you're always welcome to visit the farm in Ohio by appointment if you'd like to make the trip and meet the whole litter in person.

Raising a Frenchie in the High Country
Colorado's climate is a real change from the muggy parts of the country, and in one big way that's good news for a Frenchie. Flat-faced dogs struggle most in heavy humidity, and Colorado's air is dry. A warm afternoon in Denver is far easier on your dog's breathing than the same temperature would be in a humid southern city.
That said, the high country has its own things to plan for:
- Altitude. Denver sits at a mile high, and much of the Front Range is higher still. The thinner air can tire a Frenchie out faster, so give a new puppy time to adjust, take it easy on the first few outings, and go slow if you head up into the mountains.
- Dry air and strong sun. The same dryness that helps their breathing is hard on skin and paw pads, and the sun is intense at elevation. Keep fresh water everywhere, and a little paw balm helps against cracking.
- Cold, snowy winters. Winter is properly cold up here and brings plenty of snow. A warm coat for walks and a quick paw wipe for the ice-melt afterward keeps your Frenchie comfortable.
When the weather's good, which is often, Colorado is a beautiful place to have a dog. You can take an easy walk along Denver's Cherry Creek Trail, or wander the red rocks at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs with your Frenchie trotting alongside you.
