We pick the travel method together on a phone call once your deposit is in. For most of Colorado we suggest home delivery by van. It brings the puppy right to your door at a set price, with no airport run on your end.
Van Delivery to Your Colorado Home
A professional pet transport service drives your puppy to your house in a custom climate-controlled van. Delivery anywhere in the state costs around $450. Vans head out from Fresno on Tuesday mornings. Travel time to Colorado depends on the route and the other stops on it, so we go over the expected arrival with you on the call. A vet checks your puppy before the trip. It travels in a carrier of its own inside a van kept at a steady temperature, and you hear from the driver along the route.
Flight Nanny Into Denver and Other Airports
If you want your puppy home faster, a flight nanny can bring it on a commercial flight, and the puppy usually lands the same day it leaves. The nanny keeps it in an airline-approved soft carrier tucked under the seat. A Frenchie's short nose makes cargo a poor place for it, so ours only ever fly in the cabin. You get photos and videos during the trip and meet the nanny at baggage claim.
Denver International (DEN) handles most of these flights. Colorado Springs Airport (COS) is closer for families to the south, and Grand Junction Regional (GJT) and Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) can work on the Western Slope. The nanny's flight is quoted separately and costs more than the van. A puppy has to be 8 weeks or older to fly and weigh under 20 pounds counting the carrier, and a licensed vet signs its health certificate. Snow or storms can move a travel date, so keep your schedule open around it.
Coming to the Kennel for Pickup
Families can also come to the kennel by appointment, meet the mother, tour the facility, and sit down with us to look over the vaccine records, microchip paperwork, and health guarantee. From Colorado this usually makes sense only as part of a trip you already have planned back east.
Every puppy goes home with some of the food it has been eating, so you can change diets slowly, plus a blanket with its mother's smell. That is the same for all three options.
How Our Fluffy Frenchie Puppy Breeder Program Serves Colorado
We are a long way from Colorado, and there are Frenchie breeders much closer to you. From Ohio, the thing we put the most care into is knowing each litter's coat genetics before it arrives. A fluffy coat appears only when a puppy inherits the long-hair gene from its mother and its father. Our parent dogs all get DNA tests covering the coat gene, eye color, and furnishings, which tells us whether a pairing can produce fluffy puppies at all and which colors to expect. Our program carries common colors like cream, fawn, brindle, pied, and blue, along with rarer ones like lilac, chocolate, merle, and isabella.
Our family started raising dogs in Coshocton County, Ohio, more than 13 years ago. We own each parent dog in the program, and any stud brought in from outside goes through the same tests. Some of our litters are born at the first kennel in Fresno. Others are raised close by in a closed network of certified breeders who keep only Puppy Lodge dogs and follow our testing and breeding standards. Their buildings are climate controlled all year, with tile floors that are heated in the cold months and geothermal cooling when it turns warm. We also choose breeding dogs for sound structure, including open nostrils.
Each parent is health screened and genetically tested before it is paired. That cannot rule out every problem, but it cuts down the chances a great deal. A vet from Danville Veterinary Clinic also checks the adults and new litters every week. When puppies leave, they are microchipped and vet checked, with their vaccines and dewormings up to date. Each one has a written three-year guarantee for genetic and congenital conditions, which includes problems with the hips and elbows.
