A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Nebraska Life

In a Lincoln apartment or a farmhouse out on the plains, a Fluffy Frenchie is equally at home. These are indoor dogs at heart, happy with a short walk, a good meal, and a warm place to lie down near their people. They don't need much space or a big yard, just your attention and a comfortable couch to call their own. For families who want a gentle, low-key companion, a Frenchie is hard to beat.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

Out of a whole litter of French Bulldog puppies, only a few come out fluffy, and some litters have none at all. Those that do grow a long, full coat rather than the short, sleek kind, all thanks to a single gene that has to come from both parents. In every other way they're standard French Bulldogs, with the same affectionate, easygoing temperament. Because we test our dogs for that gene, we know which puppies will be fluffy before they're even born.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Nebraska

Nebraska is a good stretch west of our Ohio farm, but getting your puppy home is simple, and we do it all the time. You have three ways to go about it.

Flight nanny — the option most Nebraska families pick. A nanny carries your puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, into Eppley Airfield (OMA) in Omaha, the state's largest airport. For families closer to the capital, Lincoln Airport (LNK) works well too. It's a short, easy trip for the puppy.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can drive your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in Nebraska.

Farm pickup — you're always welcome to come meet the parents and take your puppy home yourself. You can drive in, or fly into one of three nearby airports and make a short trip out to the farm: Akron-Canton is about an hour and 20 minutes away, Columbus about an hour and a half, and Pittsburgh about two hours. Just set up a time with us first.

Nebraska Runs Hot and Cold

Nebraska doesn't do mild. Summers turn hot, and across the eastern half of the state, around Omaha and Lincoln, they get humid too. Winters swing the other way into real cold and snow, with wind that runs clear across the open country. For a flat-faced dog like a Fluffy Frenchie, both ends of that range call for a little care.

Summer heat is the first thing to plan for, because a short-nosed dog can't cool itself well when the air is hot and damp. Walk in the cooler mornings and evenings, keep water close by, and let your Frenchie ride out the hottest afternoons inside with the air conditioning. Winter asks for the opposite: a Frenchie's single coat isn't made for a hard freeze, so keep winter walks short, add a sweater before heading out, and wipe the salt and snow off their paws afterward.

The gentler stretches in between are the real payoff. Every spring, hundreds of thousands of sandhill cranes drop onto the Platte River, one of the great wildlife shows anywhere, and the weather is ideal for getting your Frenchie outdoors. A walk along the Omaha riverfront or an easy loop around Holmes Lake in Lincoln, with plenty of time to stop and sniff, is about perfect.

FAQs Of Nebraska Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:How does delivery to Nebraska work?

A:Nebraska is a good way from our Ohio farm, so most families go with a flight nanny, who flies with your puppy in the cabin, never in cargo, into Eppley Airfield (OMA) in Omaha, or Lincoln Airport (LNK). A specialized pet transport service can also drive your puppy to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, or you're welcome to pick up at the farm in person.

Q:Does a Fluffy Frenchie's coat need a lot of grooming?

A:Not as much as the coat might suggest. A quick brushing a few times a week keeps it from matting and cuts down on shed hair around the house, with a little extra during the spring and fall shedding seasons. There's no need for professional grooming or trimming, just steady brushing at home and a bath now and then.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
