A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Connecticut Life
A Fluffy Frenchie settles in beautifully to life in Connecticut, whether you're in a commuter town in Fairfield County, a leafy neighborhood near Hartford, or a small town along the shore. They're easygoing, affectionate little dogs that don't need much room or exercise, just a walk around the block and a warm spot at home. That makes them a wonderful fit for a busy professional, a growing family, or an empty-nester in a quiet New England town.
What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special
A Fluffy Frenchie is a French Bulldog carrying one lovely twist: a long, soft coat instead of the short one the breed is known for. Everything else is exactly what people adore about Frenchies, from the squishy face and tall bat ears to the loving, clownish personality. The fluffy coat comes from a single gene that both parents have to carry, and since so few breeders test for it, a real fluffy is quite rare. We test our dogs, so we know from the start which puppies in a litter will grow up fluffy.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Connecticut
Our farm is in Ohio, and while that's a bit of a haul from New England, bringing your puppy home is simple. You have three ways to do it.
Flight nanny — a popular choice for Connecticut families. A nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin into Bradley International Airport (BDL), just north of Hartford and easy to reach from anywhere in the state. Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.
Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company drives your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, from the shoreline to the northern hills.
Farm pickup — you're always welcome to visit the farm by appointment, meet the parents, and take your puppy home yourself.

Raising a Frenchie Through the Connecticut Seasons
Connecticut gives you four real seasons, and winter is the one that asks the most of a Frenchie owner.
New England winters are cold and snowy, and a Frenchie's short coat isn't built for that. The good news is they're indoor dogs at heart and perfectly happy curled up warm inside. When you do head out on cold days, a sweater or coat helps a lot, and it's worth wiping their paws when you get back, since the de-icing salt on the pavement can bother their skin. Keep the winter walks shorter when the temperature really drops. One nice wrinkle: down along the Long Island Sound shoreline the winters are a touch milder with less snow, while the inland hills around Hartford and to the north get a good bit more.
Summers, by contrast, are gentle here compared with much of the country, though a few humid stretches still call for the usual care: walk in the cooler morning or evening, and always have water on hand. A flat-faced dog can't shed heat easily, so a shady, unhurried pace is the way to go.
That leaves spring and one of the finest dog-walking seasons anywhere: a New England autumn, when the foliage turns and the air goes crisp. A stroll on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail or out at Greenwich Point Park on the Sound is a joy that time of year.
