A Fluffy Frenchie Made for New York Life

If there's a breed built for New York, it might be this one. Fluffy Frenchies are small, quiet, and content with a short walk and a warm lap, which makes them a natural fit for apartment living in the city. They don't need a yard or long runs to be happy. Whether you're in a Manhattan walk-up, a Brooklyn brownstone, or a house upstate, a fluffy settles in and makes himself at home.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

A Fluffy Frenchie is a purebred French Bulldog with one small twist: a longer, softer coat. Everything people love about the breed is still there, the flat little face, the tall bat ears, the clownish, loving personality. The coat comes from a single gene, and a puppy only turns out fluffy when both parents carry it. Most breeders don't test for that gene, which is why true fluffies are uncommon. We test ours, so we know what to expect from every litter.

Getting Your Puppy Home to New York

Our farm is in Ohio, so New York is a solid drive away, and we've made getting your puppy home easy no matter where in the state you are. You have three ways to do it.

Flight nanny — a popular pick for New York families. A nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin to a major New York airport, like John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) for the city, or Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) upstate. Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company drives your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, whether that's a city address or a small town upstate.

Farm pickup — you're always welcome to visit the farm by appointment, meet the parents, and take your puppy home yourself.

Raising a Frenchie in New York

New York really is two different climates, and which one you're in shapes how you care for your Frenchie.

In New York City and the surrounding area, winters are cold but manageable, and summers are warm without being extreme. A Frenchie does well here year-round, as long as you use good sense: a sweater on the coldest days, and shade and water when a summer afternoon gets muggy. City sidewalks get hot in July, so touch the pavement with your hand before a midday walk, and keep it short.

Upstate is a different story. Around Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany, the lake-effect snow piles up and winters run long and cold. A Frenchie's short coat isn't built for that, so plan for it:

  • Put a warm coat on your dog for winter walks, and keep them short when the snow and wind kick in.
  • Wipe road salt off their paws when you come inside, since it stings and cracks their pads.
  • If your heat runs all winter, a humidifier keeps the dry air from drying out their skin.

Once the snow clears, though, New York opens up. There's a neighborhood dog run on nearly every corner in the city, and upstate you've got the Erie Canal Trail and plenty of room to let a Frenchie wander at his own slow pace.

FAQs Of New York Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:Are Frenchies good apartment dogs?

A:They're one of the best. Frenchies are small, quiet, and don't need much exercise, so a city apartment suits them well. A short daily walk and time with you is really all they need.

Q:How do Frenchies handle New York winters?

A:In the city, a sweater on cold days is usually enough. Upstate, where the snow really piles up, plan for more: a warm coat, shorter walks in deep cold, and wiping salt off their paws. Frenchies would rather be inside with the family anyway.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
