A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Pennsylvania Life

Fluffy Frenchies are easygoing, affectionate little dogs that fit right in whether you're in a Philadelphia rowhouse, a Pittsburgh neighborhood, or a small town out in Pennsylvania Dutch country. They don't need a big yard or long runs. A short walk and a warm spot next to you is really all they're after, which makes them a comfortable fit for pretty much any home here.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

A Fluffy Frenchie is a French Bulldog, plain and simple, just with a longer and softer coat than most. The rest is pure Frenchie: the smooshed face, the perky ears, and a personality far bigger than the dog. That fluffy coat depends on one gene, and a puppy only gets it when both mom and dad carry it. Most breeders never test for that gene, so genuine fluffies are hard to come by. We test our dogs, so we know what a litter will bring long before the puppies are born.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Pennsylvania

Here's a nice perk for Pennsylvania families: one of the airports closest to our farm is Pittsburgh, so the western side of the state is practically in our backyard. Wherever you are in Pennsylvania, you have three ways to bring your puppy home.

Farm pickup — an easy choice if you're near Pittsburgh or western PA, since the farm is only a couple of hours away. Come meet the parents, see the kennel, and take your puppy home yourself. We set up a time by appointment so we can give you our full attention.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company drives your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, whether you're in Philadelphia, the Poconos, or anywhere else in the state.

Flight nanny — a nanny can also fly with your puppy in the cabin to a major Pennsylvania airport, like Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) or Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.

Raising a Frenchie Through a Pennsylvania Winter

Summer is the easy season here. Pennsylvania summers are warm but seldom harsh, so with shade, water, and walks during the cooler hours, your Frenchie will be comfortable.

Winter is what to prepare for, and it looks a little different depending on where you live. Philadelphia and the southeast get cold but see less snow. Head west toward Pittsburgh, up to Erie along the lake, or into the Poconos, and the snow really adds up, with Erie catching heavy lake-effect storms off the water. A Frenchie's coat, fluffy as it is, still isn't made for deep cold, so a bit of prep helps:

  • Put a warm sweater or coat on your dog before winter walks, and cut them short when it's frigid or storming.
  • Wipe their paws off after walks, since the salt on the roads and sidewalks stings and can crack their pads.
  • Run a humidifier indoors if your heater dries the air out, which keeps their skin from flaking.

Spring through fall, this is a great state for a dog who likes an easy stroll. In Pittsburgh, Frick Park has wide off-leash trails through the woods, and over in Erie, the paths at Presque Isle draw dog owners from all around once the weather turns warm.

FAQs Of Pennsylvania Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:How do Frenchies handle Pennsylvania winters?

A:They do well with a little care. Put a sweater on them for cold walks, keep those walks short in deep cold and snow, and wipe the road salt off their paws. Out west and up by Erie the snow is heavier, so plan for a bit more there. Frenchies would rather be inside with the family anyway.

Q:Can I visit the farm and meet the puppies?

A:Yes, and western Pennsylvania families are close by. We're a working kennel, so we schedule visits by appointment to make sure we can give you our time and show you the kennel, the adult dogs, and all of our puppies.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
