A Fluffy Frenchie Made for West Virginia Life

Fluffy Frenchies are easygoing, affectionate little dogs that do well just about anywhere, from a place in Charleston or Huntington to a quiet spot back in the hills. They don't need much room or hard exercise. A short walk and time on the couch with their people is all they ask for, which suits life in the Mountain State well.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

A Fluffy Frenchie is every bit a French Bulldog, with the same flat face, bat ears, and big heart in a small dog. The only real difference is the coat. A fluffy grows longer, softer fur, thanks to one gene that has to come from both parents. Not many breeders test for it, so real fluffies are hard to find. We test our dogs, which means we know what a litter holds before the puppies ever arrive.

Getting Your Puppy Home to West Virginia

Being just across the Ohio line has its perks: West Virginia is one of the easiest states for us to reach. You have three ways to bring your puppy home.

Farm pickup — a favorite for West Virginia families, since many of you are only a couple of hours away. Come meet the parents, see the kennel, and take your puppy home yourself. We set up a time by appointment so we can give you our full attention.

Ground delivery — if you'd rather stay put, a professional pet transport company brings your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in the state.

Flight nanny — for those who want to fly, a nanny can bring your puppy in the cabin to West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW) in Charleston. If you're up near the northern part of the state, our own nearby airports in Columbus and Pittsburgh are an easy option too. Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.

Raising a Frenchie in the Mountain State

West Virginia is a comfortable place to raise this breed. Summers are warm but rarely brutal, usually topping out in the mid-80s, so a Frenchie can enjoy the outdoors with just some shade and water on the hottest afternoons.

Winter is the season that asks for a little planning, and the mountains make it their own. Higher up, it gets colder and snowier than it does down in the valleys, so how much your dog needs depends a bit on where you live. A few easy habits cover it:

  • Put a sweater on your Frenchie for cold-weather walks, and keep them short when it's snowy or well below freezing.
  • Wipe their paws after walks to get road salt off their pads.
  • If your heat runs all winter and dries the air out, a humidifier helps keep their skin from getting flaky.

The best months here are spring and fall, when the hills are at their prettiest. An easy walk at Ritter Park in Huntington or around Oglebay up in Wheeling is just the kind of low-key outing a Frenchie loves.

FAQs Of West Virginia Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:Can I visit the farm and meet the puppies?

A:Yes, and since West Virginia is right next door, it's an easy trip for most families. We're a working kennel, so we schedule visits by appointment to make sure we can give you our time and show you the kennel, the adult dogs, and all of our puppies.

Q:How do Frenchies handle West Virginia winters?

A:They do well with a little care. Put a sweater on them for cold walks, keep those walks short in snow or deep cold, and wipe the road salt off their paws. Higher in the mountains it gets colder, so plan for a bit more there. Frenchies would rather be inside with the family anyway.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
