A Fluffy Frenchie Made for Maryland Life

A Fluffy Frenchie is a great match for Maryland, whether you're in a rowhouse in Baltimore, a waterfront town on the bay, or a busy suburb outside DC. They're small, mellow dogs that don't need a big yard or long runs, so a short walk and a comfortable spot at home keeps them content. For families in tighter neighborhoods, they're quiet and easy. Their gentle nature makes them wonderful company.

What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special

A Fluffy Frenchie is a French Bulldog through and through, with one lovely twist: a long, soft coat instead of the usual short one. Everything else is pure Frenchie, from the flat little face and upright ears to the affectionate, mischievous personality the breed is famous for. The coat comes from a single gene that both parents have to carry, and because so few breeders test for it, a genuine fluffy is a real rarity. We test our dogs, so we can tell you which puppies in a litter will be fluffy right from the start.

Getting Your Puppy Home to Maryland

Maryland is a manageable trip from our farm in Ohio, so bringing your puppy home is easy. You have three good ways to do it.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company drives your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, whether you're on the Eastern Shore or out toward the mountains.

Flight nanny — for families who'd rather fly the puppy in, a nanny brings your Frenchie in the cabin, never in cargo, into Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) or Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) for the DC-side suburbs.

Farm pickup — since we're only a day's drive away, plenty of Maryland families enjoy visiting the farm by appointment, meeting the parents, and driving their puppy home themselves.

Raising a Frenchie Around the Chesapeake

Maryland gives your Frenchie four real seasons, and the Chesapeake Bay has a hand in how they feel.

Summers are warm and humid, especially inland around Baltimore and the DC suburbs, and that humidity is the part to watch, because moist air makes it harder for a flat-faced dog to cool itself down. Close to the water the bay breeze takes a little of the edge off, but on the stickiest days it's still best to walk your Frenchie in the morning or evening and let the air conditioning handle the middle of the day.

Winters are real but moderate, and they change with the map. Along the bay and down in the Baltimore area, snow tends to be light and doesn't linger. As you head into the higher ground toward Frederick and the western part of the state, winter gets colder and the snow adds up, so a warm sweater and a wipe-down of the paws after salted sidewalks go a long way for a short-coated dog.

In between, Maryland gives a dog long, comfortable springs and falls. There are pretty places to walk all over, from Patterson Park in the city to the Capital Crescent Trail out toward Bethesda, and a mild day is perfect for an easy stroll near the water.

FAQs Of Maryland Families

Q:Are Fluffy Frenchies real French Bulldogs?

A:Yes, 100%. The only difference is the longer, soft coat that comes from one gene both parents carry.

Q:How much do Fluffy Frenchies cost?

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:Are Frenchies a good fit for a Baltimore rowhouse or a busy suburb?

A:Very much so. A Frenchie stays small, tends to be quiet, and is perfectly content indoors, so a rowhouse or an apartment building suits them without any trouble. Give them a daily walk and your company and they're set.

Q:How do Frenchies handle Maryland winters?

A:Just fine, with a little help. Near the bay and Baltimore the winters are mild enough that a sweater covers most days. In the colder, snowier western part of the state, add a warm coat and keep outings short on the harshest days, and your Frenchie will stay comfortable.

Q:When can my puppy come home?

A:The earliest a puppy can go home is 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time with their mom and littermates to grow strong and start life confident.

Q:What comes with my puppy?

A:Every puppy goes home vet-checked, up to date on shots, dewormed, and microchipped, with health records, a small bag of the food they've been eating, and our written 3-year health guarantee.
