How Puppy Delivery Works To Illinois

Our climate-controlled ground transport vans can bring your puppy right to your front door anywhere in the state. It's a smooth, door-to-door ride with experienced pet transport drivers. Families who want to make a trip out of it are welcome to pick up at our farm in Ohio, which is about a 5 to 7 hour drive from most of central and northern Illinois. Flying into Columbus is another easy option since the airport is only about 1.5 hours from our kennel. We also offer a flight nanny service into an airport near you, where your puppy rides in-cabin with a dedicated handler and you meet them right at the gate.

Ground Transport

We utilize a puppy delivery service to deliver your puppy anywhere in the country by delivery van. These vans are climate-controlled and the puppies are well taken care of on their journey to your home in Illinois. This is our most popular option for delivering puppies and gives your puppy a safe and calm ride right to your home.

In Person Pickup

If you’re willing to make the trip, you can come right to our home and kennel and pick the puppy up yourself. This option lets you meet the puppy, their puppy parents, and see our kennel in person. We openly allow people to visit our kennel by appointment and let them see our breeding operation and see for themselves why we are a step above your average breeder.

Flight Nanny Delivery

You can have your puppy flown into a nearby commercial airport by a professional puppy flight nanny. Your puppy will sit right next to the flight nanny the entire flight and will never be stored with cargo or luggage. Just as with ground transport, your puppy will be actively cared for and looked after until you can pick them up at the airport. This option is more expensive but gets your puppy to you in the quickest time possible if you are across the country. See a full list of Illinois airports we can fly a puppy into below.

FAQs Of Illinois Families

Q:Which of your breeds do best with Illinois winters and summers?

A:Golden Retrievers are a natural match here. Their double coat handles the cold well, and they love getting outside in every season. Pomskies are another great pick for Illinois weather since they thrive in cooler temperatures and have the energy for big backyards or weekend hikes. Miniature Poodles adapt easily to both the summer heat and winter chill, and their low-shedding coat is a bonus for families who spend a lot of time indoors from November through March. Fluffy French Bulldogs do wonderfully in Illinois because they're primarily indoor companions, equally happy in a Chicago apartment or a downstate farmhouse. Miniature Dachshunds and Teddy Bears round out the list as smaller breeds that transition between seasons without any trouble.

Q:Can I visit your facility before buying?

A:Absolutely, and we love when families make the trip. Visits are by appointment so we can give you our full attention. You'll meet the parent dogs, walk through the kennel, and spend real time with the puppies. It's one thing to see photos online, but holding a puppy and watching how it interacts with your kids is a completely different experience. If traveling isn't in the cards, we also offer virtual tours so you can see exactly how our puppies are raised before making a decision.

Q:What should I prepare before my puppy arrives in Illinois?

A:Illinois weather can be unpredictable, so plan for whatever season you're bringing your puppy home. In winter, have a warm, draft-free space set up inside and keep early potty trips short until your pup acclimates to the cold. Summer arrivals should have plenty of shade and fresh water available, and avoid walking on hot pavement during midday. No matter the time of year, schedule a vet visit within the first week, stock up on the same food your puppy has been eating (we send a Purina Pro Plan starter bag home with every pup), and puppy-proof one room so your new addition has a safe space to settle in.

Q:Why Families in Illinois Choose The Puppy Lodge

A:Illinois is close enough that we see a lot of families in person, and that's the best way to understand what we do. We're a family of nine, five girls, two boys, and two parents, on five acres in the rolling hills of Central Ohio, raising puppies for more than 13 years. Our kids are in the whelping room and the play yard every day, so every puppy that heads to Chicago, Springfield, or Peoria has been held and loved on since birth. The kennel has heated tile floors in winter, geothermal cooling in summer, and has been remodeled multiple times because that's not the place to cut corners. We're certified through the Purdue University Canine Care Program, one of the few breeders in the country who can say that, and our vet from Danville Veterinary Clinic checks our dogs every week. Every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation between days 3 and 16, and every parent dog is health and genetic tested. The drive is only 5 to 7 hours, and climate-controlled ground transport covers the rest of the state. There's more about our family on our About Us page.
