Getting Your Puppy Home to Illinois

Our farm is in Ohio, a straight shot from Illinois, and we've made bringing your puppy home simple. You have three ways to do it.

Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company drives your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, whether you're in the Chicago suburbs or way downstate.

Flight nanny — for a quicker trip, a nanny flies with your puppy in the cabin into O'Hare International Airport (ORD) or Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW). Your puppy is never shipped alone in cargo.

Farm pickup — you're welcome to visit the farm by appointment, meet the parents, and take your puppy home yourself.

Raising a Frenchie in Illinois

The good news for Illinois Frenchie owners is that summers here are pretty agreeable. They get warm and a little humid, but rarely punishing, so with water and shade your dog can enjoy the season without much fuss.

Winter is the real test, and in Illinois it comes with a twist: the wind. Chicago didn't earn the nickname the Windy City for nothing, and out on the open prairie there's little to slow the wind down either. That wind chill cuts right through a Frenchie's short coat and drops the "feels like" temperature well below what the thermometer says. A few habits make the cold season easy:

Bundle your Frenchie in a warm coat for walks, and keep the walks short and brisk when the wind is biting.
Watch the wind chill, not just the temperature, when you decide how long to stay out.
Wipe the salt off their paws when you get back inside, and run a humidifier to keep the dry indoor heat from cracking their skin.

The payoff comes the rest of the year. Chicago's Lakefront Trail runs for miles right along Lake Michigan, and the Montrose Dog Beach lets your pup romp off-leash by the water. Out in the suburbs, the Illinois Prairie Path is a favorite for a long, flat, easy walk.

A:Fluffies cost more than standard Frenchies because they're rare. Ours range from $2,800 to $6,000, depending on color and looks. Financing is available.

Q:Is my deposit refundable?

A:A $200 deposit holds your puppy. The deposit is non-refundable, because once you reserve a puppy, we take it off the market for other families. If something comes up, we'll work with you to move your deposit to another available puppy.

Q:How do Frenchies handle Chicago winters?

A:They manage well with a little help. Because the wind is the main issue here, dress your Frenchie in a warm coat, keep walks shorter on the most bitter days, and wipe the road salt off their paws when you head back in. They'd much rather be curled up inside anyway.
