A Fluffy Frenchie Made for North Dakota Life
Across North Dakota's wide-open spaces and tight-knit communities, a Fluffy Frenchie settles right in. Whether you're in Fargo or Bismarck, on a farm out on the prairie, or in one of the busy towns out in oil country, a Frenchie asks for little more than a warm house and a spot at your side. They're calm, affectionate, and built for indoor life, which counts for a lot in a place where winter keeps everyone inside for months at a stretch. Beyond a short daily walk, all a Frenchie really wants is to be near you.
What Makes a Fluffy Frenchie Special
A Fluffy Frenchie has all the personality of a regular French Bulldog and the same compact, sturdy build, just with a plush, longer coat over it. That coat is the fluffy's one signature, and it only shows up when a puppy inherits the gene for it from both parents. Most breeders never test for that gene, which is why real fluffies are so uncommon. We test our dogs, so we know which puppies in a litter will be fluffy before they're born.

Getting Your Puppy Home to North Dakota
North Dakota sits a long way northwest of our Ohio farm, out on the northern plains, but bringing your puppy home is straightforward, and we do it often. You have three ways to go about it.
Flight nanny — the option most North Dakota families pick. A nanny carries your puppy in the cabin the whole way, never in cargo, into Hector International Airport (FAR) in Fargo. For families in the central and western part of the state, Bismarck Municipal Airport (BIS) is an option too. It's a short, easy trip for the puppy.
Ground delivery — a professional pet transport company can drive your puppy right to your door in a climate-controlled vehicle, anywhere in North Dakota.
Farm pickup — you're always welcome to come meet the parents and take your puppy home yourself. You can drive in, or fly into one of three nearby airports and make a short trip out to the farm: Akron-Canton is about an hour and 20 minutes away, Columbus about an hour and a half, and Pittsburgh about two hours. Just set up a time with us first.

Bracing for a North Dakota Winter
North Dakota does winter harder than just about anywhere. This is often the coldest state in the country, and what makes it so punishing isn't only the temperature, it's the wind. The land is flat and open for a hundred miles, so the wind builds up speed and drives the cold right through everything, with wind chills that fall far below what the thermometer shows.
For a Fluffy Frenchie, that settles the matter: through the heart of a North Dakota winter, this is strictly an indoor dog. A Frenchie may look fluffy, but underneath it's a small, short-nosed dog with a single layer of coat, and the cold reaches it fast. Keep winter outings short and purposeful, just long enough to do their business, and skip them altogether when the wind chill turns dangerous. A good coat helps at the edges of the season, checking their paws for packed snow and ice keeps their feet comfortable, and a humidifier makes the dry, heated indoor air easier on their skin.
Summer here is the reward, green and lush, if on the short side. Those warm months are worth savoring. An evening at one of Fargo's riverside parks, or a walk along the Missouri in Bismarck, is easy on a Frenchie, so long as you keep the hottest afternoons for the shade and the AC.
