A:Tennessee's summer humidity can be tough on a young puppy, so plan to keep early walks short and stick to morning or evening hours when the pavement has cooled down. A simple hand test works: if the asphalt is too hot for your palm, it's too hot for puppy paws. Set up a cool, quiet space inside where your puppy can decompress after the trip, and have your first vet appointment booked within a few days of arrival. Fresh water stations in more than one room go a long way during those first sticky weeks.

Every puppy goes through Early Neurological Stimulation between days 3 and 16, and every parent dog is health and genetic tested.
