Golden Retriever Puppies for Sale in Idaho

Idaho is well over a day's drive from our farm in Fresno, Ohio, and our Golden Retriever puppies for sale in Idaho reach families there by van or with a flight nanny into Boise and other nearby airports. Before a puppy leaves us, it is vet checked, microchipped and started on crate and potty training, which makes those first nights at home a little easier. Our written three-year health guarantee covers genetic and congenital conditions.

Idaho families can reserve this Golden Retriever puppy

Golden Retriever Puppies Available to Idaho Families

The listing below shows every Golden we have available, and each price there reflects the puppy's color, coat, and gender, starting at $1,995. We don't run a waitlist, so a puppy goes to whoever places the $200 deposit first. You can't get that deposit back, but you can put it toward a different available puppy if your plans shift. Picks from upcoming litters can be reserved too.

Payments can be spread out through Credova, and a FaceTime call is available if you want to watch a puppy before deciding. We also deliver, so the puppy you pick can travel to Idaho.

How Our Golden Retrievers Travel to Idaho

The travel method is something we settle with you by phone once your puppy is reserved. Every puppy leaves with a bag of its current food and a blanket with its mother's scent, whichever option you pick.

Flight Nanny Into Boise and Other Idaho Airports

Flying is the option we suggest for most of Idaho. Your puppy flies in the cabin with a trained nanny, tucked in a soft carrier under the seat and never in cargo. You collect your puppy from the nanny at baggage claim, and most trips wrap up the same day. Boise Airport (BOI) is the main choice, Idaho Falls Regional (IDA) serves eastern Idaho and Magic Valley Regional (TWF) covers the Twin Falls area. Spokane International (GEG) in Washington is closest for Coeur d'Alene and the Panhandle. We quote it per flight, and it costs more than the van.

Golden puppies grow quickly, and one that tops 20 pounds with its carrier would come by van instead. A flight also needs a vet health certificate and a puppy at least 8 weeks old, and families need some flexibility for weather delays.

Ground Delivery by Van

A pet transport van leaves Fresno on Tuesday mornings and brings your puppy to your door in its own carrier after a vet check. Road time is roughly 28 to 34 hours depending on your part of Idaho, and we give you the arrival day on that same call. You get updates along the route, and the fee is around $450.

Pickup in Fresno, Ohio

Pickup is by appointment at our Fresno farm, where you can meet your puppy and its mother and go over the records, microchip and health guarantee with us. If we used an outside stud for the litter, the father may not be on site. It works best for families in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana and Kentucky, so from Idaho it only fits if you are already heading east.

Golden Retriever Puppy Breeder Serving Idaho Families

Our family, the Nisleys, has raised dogs in Coshocton County, Ohio, for more than 13 years. The Puppy Lodge owns the parent dogs, though an outside stud with the same testing is sometimes used, and our litters are raised by a small closed network of local breeders near the farm who work only with Puppy Lodge dogs. Both parents of each Golden pairing are genetically tested and screened for hips and elbows, and we weigh structure since joint problems are a known risk for Goldens.

Every litter is examined more than once before going home, because Danville Veterinary Clinic comes out to see our dogs each week. From day 3 to day 16 the puppies go through Early Neurological Stimulation, and daily outdoor play builds lean muscle during a growth stretch that lasts until 18 to 24 months. Every Golden that travels to Idaho comes from this same testing and weekly vet care.

FAQs Of Idaho Families Adopting Golden Retrievers

Q: Will a Golden puppy do well in an Idaho winter?

A: Goldens carry a thick double coat that was bred for cold, wet work, so most of them are comfortable in the snow. Towel your puppy dry after a long outing, especially while it is still small.

Q: Can we take our Golden puppy hiking right away?

A: Adult Goldens need 60 to 90 minutes of exercise a day, and hiking is a great way to cover that once your dog is grown. A Golden keeps growing until about 18 to 24 months, so until then keep hikes short and skip steep climbs, big jumps and long runs. Too much high-impact activity before the growth plates close can strain developing joints. Your vet can help you decide when to add longer days on the trail.

Q: Is swimming in Idaho's lakes and rivers okay for a Golden?

A: Lakes and rivers are fine for most Goldens, and their water-resistant coat was built for swimming. Those drop ears trap water, though, so dry them after each swim and give them a weekly check. If an ear starts to smell, turns red or your puppy keeps scratching at it, take it to your vet, since ear infections are common in the breed.

Q: What should we expect for shedding?

A: Goldens shed every day of the year, and spring and fall bring a heavier coat change on top of that. A good baseline is two or three brushings a week, moving to daily brushing during those seasonal sheds. Pay the most attention to the feathering behind the legs and on the chest, where mats start first. The complete guide to Golden Retrievers on our site goes deeper into coat care.

Q: Does testing the parents rule out cancer in Goldens?

A: No. Screening the parents can't rule out cancer, and Golden Retrievers get certain cancers at a higher rate than most breeds. What testing does is lower the odds of many inherited conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, without promising a healthy dog for life. If you want to go over our testing in more detail, we are glad to talk it through by phone.
